I missed this one. Sorry, not_nadine!

Sunday Survey May 17 2015

1. What (if any) superstition do you believe/practice?

I'm sure I have something from habit, but nothing comes to mind. I like a No. 13 Jersey, I don't care about walking under ladders unless there's something falling off of them, don't mind spilling salt, and so on.

2. Has reading a book ever changed your life? Which one, and why?

Yeah, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I drifted away from Attitude and started moving toward Quality.

3. Are you a good dancer? What was the last song you danced to?

I like to dance. Not sure I'm all that good. Can't remember the last one. Some rock-n-roll things.

4. If you could pick a book that you have read to be made into a movie, which would you pick?

Nothing comes to mind. I wrote a novella once that I think would make a nice, tight, intriguing independent film. It's on my bucket list.

5. What is the most beautiful place that you have ever seen?

Mountain lakes in Colorado and New Zealand's south island.

6. What song always makes you happy when you hear it?

Love (Reign O'er Me).

7. What did you want to be when you grew up?

Vertebrae paleontologist.

8. What are your favorite smells?

Coffee. Pine.

9. What was the last thing you thought about before sleep last night?

"Don't be late tomorrow." Ain't it sad?

10. What is the most daring or dangerous thing that you have ever done?

Joined the Marines. Did a very challenging overseas thing that people didn't think I was ready for. Bungy-jumped off a bridge. Raised children.

1 Is there ever a plausible excuse to wear mink or do you find the idea repellent? I do think they are beautiful, on the animal. I would not want one.

2 What would you consider to be the ultimate pizza topping? (Skies the limit; caviar, guava, kalamata olives... go bonkers!) Ultimate? I'm not sure, but I am one of these people who does love anchovies.

3 Jury duty or the dentist? Dentist

4 Name, if you can, a word you have consistently misspelled or mispronounced since childhood. Mispronounce -- Wolf. Since I was a kid, I've said Woof. I have to really watch myself.

5 What is your fave C&W song? Hmm, not sure. There are a lot of the old ones I like. Counting Flowers on the Wall. Reminds me of my mom and dad.

6 What, in your opinion, is a Kardashian? Self involved, ignorant people who smartly capitalized on what they had.

7 Cuddly creatures. Which do you prefer? Cats, dogs or inanimate stuffed toys? Cat

8 Everybody has a favourite film from childhood. Mine is the Railway Children. What is yours? Scrooge! The Musical

9 We live in a fast paced world with ever decreasing choices due to time management rather than thoughtfulness. What is your go to snack? (Not fast food, you have to make it yourself) Lucky CHarms Cereal

10 Finally, I remember the Love Is... cartoons from years ago. Define the word love simply in one or three words. True love is really liking someone.

1 Is there ever a plausible excuse to wear mink or do you find the idea repellent? I'm not fond of the idea, and I think the only people who wear mink are posh a-holes anyway.

2 What would you consider to be the ultimate pizza topping? (Skies the limit; caviar, guava, kalamata olives... go bonkers!) Pineapple.

3 Jury duty or the dentist? Jury duty.

4 Name, if you can, a word you have consistently misspelled or mispronounced since childhood. Their.

5 What is your fave C&W song? Now my age shows. Not a clue.

6 What, in your opinion, is a Kardashian?

The word that pops into mind I can't say here, even with strategically placed asterisks. Y'all probably know what I mean.

7 Cuddly creatures. Which do you prefer? Cats, dogs or inanimate stuffed toys? Dogs.

8 Everybody has a favourite film from childhood. Mine is the Railway Children. What is yours? John Carpenter's The Thing. :biggrin2:

9 We live in a fast paced world with ever decreasing choices due to time management rather than thoughtfulness. What is your go to snack? (Not fast food, you have to make it yourself) Oreos and Milk, or Bananas and Custard.

10 Finally, I remember the Love Is... cartoons from years ago. Define the word love simply in one or three words. A release of dopamine in the brain.

I just remembered. Country-western ain't my thing, either, but "Gentle On My Mind" is one amazingly nice song.

When you hear lyrics like, "knowing I'm not shackled by forgotten words and bonds," and "inkstains that have dried upon some line," and "rivers of my memory," and you're not even out of the first verse yet, don't care if it's country, rock, big band, whatever - you're in for a listening experience of some well-placed creativity.

I like your answer  - (mink: I would say no, as in the past it was just a status symbol).

You do make a good point about animal fur being necessary for survival against the elements!

I'm thrilled to be here and wish to know more about you...

1 Being Sunday what will you or have you had for breakfast?

2 Looking back over the last twenty four hours is it ever a safe assumption to believe the night before won't come back to mortify you?

3 What is your Sunday treat? (A pitcher of Bloody Marys, artery clogging fried food and an anxiety attack or perhaps a health shake followed by a trip to the gym and a sensible lunch?)

4 What did you want to be when you were very small?

5 Festival season is fast approaching! Do you own an RV and wear a large hat formerly occupied by a rabbit?

6 Who is your definitive SKeeter protagonist and villain and why? (They needn't be from the same book.)

7 If you could have any preternatural talent or gift what would it be?

8 Have you recently had a deeply spiritual (not necessarily religious) experience?

9 As a child did you master the yo yo? What was your favourite trick?

10 Now we are at the end of the survey please tell me how you feel in one word or less.

As always my warmest regards to you all,

Philip

I've just merged your thread with our Sunday Survey one, Philip.
(What tends to happen with this thread is that people take turns to post 10 random questions--once a week on a Sunday. When they have posted their 10, they usually nominate someone else for the following week. If you read back a few pages, you will get the basic gist. :) )

1 Being Sunday what will you or have you had for breakfast? Coffee
2 Looking back over the last twenty four hours is it ever a safe assumption to believe the night before won't come back to mortify you? Not anymore.
3 What is your Sunday treat? (A pitcher of Bloody Marys, artery clogging fried food and an anxiety attack or perhaps a health shake followed by a trip to the gym and a sensible lunch?) Nothing special on Sunday's
4 What did you want to be when you were very small? An actress. I have one main memory from Kindergarten, drawing a picture of myself and another person on stage.
5 Festival season is fast approaching! Do you own an RV and wear a large hat formerly occupied by a rabbit? Nope
6 Who is your definitive SKeeter protagonist and villain and why? (They needn't be from the same book.) Thad Beaumont/George Stark.
7 If you could have any preternatural talent or gift what would it be? Exceptional intelligence
8 Have you recently had a deeply spiritual (not necessarily religious) experience? No, not recently.
9 As a child did you master the yo yo? What was your favourite trick? I was an amateur, I could do it normally, and maybe 1 or 2 tricks. Rock the Cradle was pretty much it. I got frustrated cause the line would always curl up and the yo-yo would start going sideways. Hated that. I mostly used the Butterfly yo-yo but had a nice clear dark blue one as well.
10 Now we are at the end of the survey please tell me how you feel in one word or less. Groggy (just woke up)

 No worries, it all works out in the end... Philip can nominate someone for next week. (It might help if people put their hand up for a turn as he may not know many folks here yet. :) )
I would be honoured to nominate someone, if it's okay? I would like to nominate Kingaholic if she's willing and doesn't think it too presumptuous. And thank you Flake and Nadine ☝

I liked number 9, "Around the World without knocking anyone out."
It sounds like Russell Crowe on a Temperance Tour
