I'll fess up... I have no idea what LGBQ stands for, I'd just made the change to the thread title as AnnaMarie had asked.

Glad I'm not the only one unaware of the Q, I know LGB because I have quite a few lesbian, gay and bisexual friends. I didn't even contemplate the Q would mean queer, so hopefully it stands for some new and wonderful description for a persons sexuality. :smile2:

You could be right... I've looked at another site and it is saying that it could stand for either. I'm not sure what to do--am open for suggestions.

My understanding was they were taking back the word. ;) People I know IRL refer to themselves as queer. However, it may be acceptable in some places, but not in others. Since the entire intent of the thread is support, not offence, I think it's best if you use LGBT instead. :)

And if my original suggestion offended anyone I sincerely apologize.

Ok, I just looked it up... really? "Queer"? Is this an acceptable title in the gay community, because if it isn't I'd like to remove it from the thread title.
It's actually the idea of the gay community, to include any person of sexual orientation that doesn't necessarily fit into any specific category so that everybody is represented.
The whole thing is LGBTQ. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer.

No offence taken on my part, I just wasn't sure what the Q was for. Although I prefer "questioning" over "queer". You're right about how people describe themselves, one of my friends has used that word along with "bent" to describe himself, but I have other friends who find the terms derogatory. Each to their own. :smile2:

I noticed that too....love it!!

I wish everyone a safe Olympic experience, and hope everything goes smoothly. The march of the nations during the opening ceremony is always one of my favorite Olympic moments. I am not much of a sports fan, but when the Olympics come around I cannot stop watching.
