Out of Order Re: Amazing Race winners YAY!! :biggrin-new: That makes me happy. Pretty great finale!!

I know! I was pumped they won!!

The Amazing Race's ratings have been pretty solid over the years, and it's won a whole raft of Emmys. On Sundays, though, it has often had the problem of being delayed, sometimes by as much as an hour, because of sporting event over-runs, so that might be behind the decision to move it.

That does seem to happen a lot on Sunday night. That's when I'm thankful for TIVO.LOL

Here, there and everywhere.
I stayed up until 1:00 a.m. last night to finally watch the last two episodes of "Survivor." I've been avoiding the computer and television, afraid I'd accidentally see who won! I was sooo disappointed when
Spencer was voted off during tribal that I almost didn't watch the final episode. I truly couldn't imagine getting excited about anyone else winning. But I consoled myself with the knowledge that Spencer is such a great player that he's bound to be asked back at some point.

For some reason, the DVR cut off before the results were revealed, and taped none of the reunion show, so I still need to watch those online. But my daughter told me that next season is another
Blood vs. Water theme - which made me immediately think, "Hey, maybe Spencer and his sister will be on!!" But then she told me that there were no returning players. I don't know if this is correct - she heard all of this from a junior high friend who's a master of misinformation.

And poor, poor
L.J.! He seems such a broken man! (Again, I haven't seen the reunion show, and this is based on his questions to Tony during tribal.) He is someone else I'd like to see as a returning player.

Kass. Where to begin?
I so wanted to like her, and did at first. I don't think people's dislike of her stemmed from anything other than her being an arrogant, unlikeable person. I know many off-the-chart smart women, some of them assertive, some of them snobbish in ways, and they are incredibly likeable because they have compassion and humor and insight into people of all intelligence ranges. Maybe if there's another Heroes vs. Villains, she should be invited back. Otherwise, *raspberry.*

regarding Kass...
I think it might be interesting to see Kass and her hubby on a Blood vs Water season. He seems to be a really nice guy, like her polar opposite even. It might be fun watching everyone cheer him on while giving Kass the raspberry lol

Here, there and everywhere.
I finally watched the reunion show, but still need to catch up on my Ponderosa videos - I haven't seen one since Jeremiah, and want to watch Spencer's in particular.

Spencer looked so much younger on the reunion show than he did on the island; I guess it's a testament to how seriously he was playing the game.

I'm a little puzzled by the intense hatred some seem to feel for Tony - I don't think he's a malicious person. I wasn't rooting for him earlier in the season, but his incessant scrambling won me over to a place where I would root for him in any situation where his winning wouldn't endanger Spencer. And again, Spencer won my support in his speech to the jury re: Tony.
I would have been far more discouraged with the season if Woo had won. He's an extremely nice guy, but Tony deserved to win, in my opinion.

I've mentioned in a previous post that I'd love to try out for the show. Have any of you ever applied?

Spencer did look lots younger on the reunion show - partly I think because of the haircut, partly because he wasn't agitated like he'd been while playing lol.

I didn't like Tony swearing on his wife and baby. I didn't think swearing on his badge was a biggie... Sarah thought so though lol. I would have liked Tony better if every single word out of his mouth wasn't a lie.

I will never try out for the show... can't swim, can't eat bugs, can't lie effectively. T'would be very cool if you play :) Do you have a favorite strategy?

I'm afraid that any "strategy" I may plan would just dissolve into me being myself when hunger and sunburn set in. Which means I would probably whine a lot, blame others, mock people, and get quickly booted.

Bounce - I've been thinking about this. I love when people play the game and strategize, but there's a fine line between playing aggressively and being annoying/paranoid. I don't like coattail winners, either. I remember Denise, who won either last year or year before, and I liked her strategy - she didn't ride coattails, but she wasn't obnoxious, and she won some challenges. She was also likeable and smart, so an all-around well-balanced player, and I thought very deserving of the win.

I could never win because I'm not physically strong, and I'm a poor liar. At best, I could maybe make top five by making a good alliance and keeping my mouth shut.

You don't have to be strong if you're good at puzzles :) I think you should try it :)

regarding the hidden immunity idol...

If y'all found a clue to finding the immunity idol, would you keep the clue a secret or share it with your buddies?

Would you search for the idol without having the benefit of a clue?

Would you tell your team you're going to look for the idol or would you sneak out of camp to look for it?

I'm okay at puzzles, and pretty good with memory games.

As far as the idol - it's so complicated! How do you go off and search without being perceived as sneaky? I realize that these people are on the island 24/7, and obviously they all must go off alone for solitude at times, so if I knew I wouldn't look suspicious I'd definitely scrounge for the idol without a clue. As far as telling someone, I would maybe tell my alliance that I'm looking. If I found a clue, I wouldn't tell anyone. If I found the idol, that's another story. Any trust that is built within an alliance would be damaged if I suddenly pulled out an idol at tribal, right? So if I did find an idol, I'd tell my alliance, but I wouldn't tell them that I'd had a clue.

But...my gosh, how many hours of talking must these people do that we don't get to see. On an island, nothing to do but boil water and keep fires going, they must talk all the time. It's not in my personality to be detached or secretive (unless I had a clue to find the idol!), so if I were actively looking for an idol without a clue, I'd probably talk about it with them - "While I was getting coconuts I looked under that big tree - the twisted one that looks like it has three breasts and an afro? - and there wasn't anything there. Maybe tomorrow I'll check the cave. Where have you guys looked?" As I said, I have no chance of winning! :D

Exactly. I wonder if there is a point when they truly don't notice the camermen anymore. There must be, because I noticed on the recent episode when the loved ones showed up, how unnatural they seemed compared to the competitors. They behaved like I would if a camera suddenly showed up - stiff and self-conscious.

Something that hasn't been mentioned lately that I'm curious about - bathrooms. In the past, I think there was mention of digging latrines, etc. I wonder if the tribes still do this, or if "Survivor" rigs something up for them. I thought about this when Tony mentioned his parasite, and though he probably contracted it through drinking water, it just made me think of other unsanitary things.

Thanks, Bev. That was very informative, especially the part about the medications. I'd always assumed they allowed people to have meds for blood pressure, or any other condition that required it. Interesting that they get sunscreen and condoms and tampons, but not toilet paper.

Sooo, in the ocean, huh?

This season's winner leaves such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't know if I'll watch the next one. Seriously disgusted.

This was my first time ever to watch any episodes of Survivor - now that I know what it is all about I am not sure if I will tune in next time. I guess this is sort of like "voyeur TV" so I may skip the next one.
