Good afternoon.

What kind of tacos do you like? Corn tortilla or flour?

Mine:

Sunday it would be barbacoa tacos. Double-Decker (corn tortilla in a flour tortilla) with cheek meat, salsa and slices of avocado.

Breakfast taco: flour tortilla with refried beans and bacon.

Every day, any time...picadillo.

(If anyone has noticed, I'm obsessing on food 'cause I'm dieting. Again. Ha!)

What's in your taco?

(Food porn.)

Peace.

For tacos I prefer flour tortillas to corn, though corn ones are less fattening (everything depending of course on what one adds on). I just don't care as much for the flavor of corn tortillas. In tacos I almost always want ground beef along with what is usually included: shredded iceberg lettuce and cheese, diced onions and sweet peppers. I usually order burritos instead, though, because they're easier to eat. I also get a side order of sliced, pickled jalapeños.

Hi Siggy,

Breakfast Burrito - eggs, onions, spinach, salsa, and cheese

Hard Tacos- meat and beans, lettuce, guac, tomatoes or salsa

We often have loaded chips for dinner. Tortilla chips, cheese, meat and bean mix, lettuce, corn, salsa, sour cream, guacamole, and hot sauce.

Hubby and son eat it like that. Usually I take most of the rest of lettuce, throw all the stuff in a bowl and taco salad.

BTW, I'd pay a pretty penny for an example of your cooking, Siggy.

Oh man! We have taco night at my house. My son's friend keeps asking me when we will have taco night again.

I do all 3 shells: soft corn, soft flour and crunchy. I fry the corn and flour.

Then I just cut everything up and put them out on the table and let everyone pick what they want. My "taco bar" consists of:

roma tomatoes
lettuce
spinach
onions, red
little green onions
mild chilis
olives
radishes
cabbage (red)
kidney beans
refried beans
cheese
guacamole
sour cream
and meat that has been seasoned with oregano, cumin, chili pepper, salt and pepper
salsa

Then we have many different hot sauce brands to choose from and ketchup.

 I could put a big dent in that spread, like a 6 taco sized dent.

Kind of an aside, but maybe my question can be answered here. I grow Hungarian Wax hot peppers (the only kind I like). I pick them from the garden and slice them up. I’ll wash my hands with soap and water afterwards up to 4 times. Still, if I touch my hands anywhere near my eyes up to 5 hours afterwards I go temporarily blind with pain for about half an hour, and often have to flush them. Is there a trick to getting the pepper heat from your hands after slicing hot peppers?

milk or rub butter on them. Dairy neutralizes acids.

Or, wear gloves or coat your fingers with vegetable oil before touching.

Use disposable gloves (unless you or someone else has an allergy to latex those should work) when you're cutting them so you can just remove them and shouldn't have any residue on your fingers. My partner likes hot peppers and that's what he does when he uses any hotter than jalapenos.

Thanks, I'll try the milk first (butter-fingers and a sharp knife just seems like a bad recipe for me :)). I've tried the gloves, but don't like wearing them. Don't know if it's the lack of feel, or just laziness on my part.

hahhaha! live dangerously dio! No, you put the butter or milk on your hands AFTER you have cut the peppers. It neutralizes the acid. THen you can wash with soap and water.

My idea would be to mix baking soda into a paste and apply that to your hands. Baking soda is alkaline, while peppers are acidic, so that should cause a pH balance to occur removing the acid. Vinegar is also alkaline, but the odor might be difficult to control.
