For anyone that wants to write, has written, or be inerestuhd.

This is not a competition. Even an underlying one. This is good art and the not-so.

Poems are sometimes hard to the point of abandonment. Sometimes they sparkle from your fingertips like the best vampire books ever written!!!!1!!!1! Most times you flush them.

I'm trying to get back into wording, and I'm all about condensing essence. Often to the point of obscurity which shoots me in the foot. I thought I'd hold a ten minute gun to my temple to coax a plop out.

Poem up, Peeps.

Rules: None, but for your own good try to keep it under 10 mins and make it mean something
TO YOU. You can always go back and spend ten years making it mean something to nobody.

The following is what I came up with. Yes, I borrowed. No finger pointing here, just jam it out for 10 minutes and sail that little paraffin coated sailboat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Pierian
Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow,
Thus bleeds the lesser lights of the sun.
Whether ‘tis nobler is not the answer
Until ragged deeds be done.
We choke through the lights of day,
Only to submit ourselves
To opulent farce,
And deadly plunder awaits
To those that overseek.
We must awaken, and by awakening I mean
To sleep anew, remembering what’s forgotten
And to spike the spring again.
Issue forth.
I did it! Wrote it on scrap paper this afternoon while I was waiting for a friend; it doesn't follow any meter or regulation. I'm not even sure that it is a poem.
10 Minute Poem 3-25-14
Boys to Men
"Scouts, signs up";
...
"Tonight we have several new boys who've joined our troop".
(They are so little and cute)
Helicopter Mamas
Straighten collars;
Quietly scolding wiggles
With stares or finger motions.
(How small they start out)
..."Zach, David and Eddie will be joining the badgers patrol"... zone out
..." On the campout this weekend, the older boys will be teaching the younger guys how to pitch our tents..." zone out
..."Grubmasters, for all four patrols, discuss your menus, and see if there are any dietary restrictions you need to consider..."zone out
My wiggly puppy,
has learned to stand still at circle time.
He has helped comfort little ones during
his week away at camp. He's sold popcorn
and earned badges to wear with pride on his sash.
He can pitch a tent,
start a fire, and enjoy outside.
He is growing from Boy to Man.
