I am very ill with the flu. I needed groceries after returning from up North and, despite how ill I feel, I decided to go grocery shopping. I figured the quickest way was to call a nice warm cab. I got my groceries and went outside the store to wait for a cab to come fetch me back. It was around eleven in the morning. I waited till one thirty and no cab. Two elderly couples were waiting, also, but not as long as me. I could not call anyone to help me cause they were all working. The cab company kept on saying they were busy and, after a while, they did not answer their phone at all.

This gal in her mid twenties offered to give me a ride home. She was so nice and when we reached my place, she would not let me carry the food in...she did it because she knew I was so ill. I offered money but she would not take it. She was going back to the store to give the other two couples a ride home as well. WOW What a fantastic woman! I do love this city so very much!

There are 363 people with H1N1 here now. Two have died. I am so sick that I am going to call my doc again tomorrow. The penicillin is not helping at all. It is very scary here being sick and worried if I have swine flu.

...what a lovely person, god bless her....and honey?....penicillin is utterly ineffective against the flu, influenza is a VIRUS...antibiotics do not battle viruses, only bacterial issues...get back to your doctor...get labs drawn and a chest x-ray at bare minimum...anything else, PM me...

Wonderful story, Staro! Please get to the doc asap- you don't want to mess around with this type of illness. We want you here with us for a l-o-n-g time to come!!!
Yes - I thought the H1N1 flu was long gone. A few years back we had the H1N1 flu scare here and everybody was going to get shots. The shot I got made me deathly ill :ill:

Instead of 336, I meant 236....say sorry, confirmed cases. I am going to bed. I am not thinking half right, I do not think so. How could I just stand for two hours in -23 C cold like that? I feel half in a daze except for the kindness of that lady who took one look at me, and told to get in the car. How very good folks are here in Alberta....she toook in four stray cats,too....like me. I have to sleep. Becky will be home soon. I am not making much sense. Nighters and I love u all.

It never completely went away, but there were so few cases it didn't hit the news. This year it's coming back with a vengeance again. (Hasn't hit pandemic proportions, but the season is still early.)

This years flu shot includes H1N1. However, we are still avoiding everyone who appears sick. If this keeps up, DH will drive me to the store and wait in the car while I shop. He'll also put a sign on his office door.

What will the sign say? Don't come in here if you are sick? or "Please don the proffered disposable mask which has been provided?"

I am not trying to be funny. We have signs similar to that in the hospital where I work.
