So real quick, first book I ever read was The Shining. I never could get through a book before then (probably around 12yrs old or so), and I was hooked. My favorite book soon became The Gunslinger. I, of course, was obsessed with the film adaptations and had an entire book shelf soon dedicated just to Mr. King's work.
I was recently tasked with recreating my favorite book's cover as part of a graphic design class. I was to look at all the previous covers and do something different. I could take influence from or remove whatever elements I saw fit. I always felt it odd that the first character mentioned in The Gunslinger was missing from every cover, and so I allowed that opening line to be my main influence.
