One Christmas, my friend Laura decided to have a bottle of wine while cooking dinner for her family. One bottle turned into 3, and while she didn't throw up or pass out, she did have to call her brother to come over and finish cooking the meal. I send her this meme every year, except I replace step #17 with call Tim to finish cooking the meal.....

Oh MAN! (I totally forgot to buy that turkey) - I was supposed to join in the American celebrations...

Wait a second - it's not Thanksgiving yet down there, is it?

:m_tired:Whew - big sigh of relief

I saw that Granny's Poultry has a new one out that is already basted and seasoned - I'll have to look into that one!

:peace:

Here's another option - not the same as Mom used to make, but much less work!

As long as I can have mashed potatoes with gravy, corn niblets on the side and cranberry sauce, I'll be a happy camper! (Not too sure about that cornbread stuffing however - Mom always used old stale bread that she had ripped up into chunks).

And of course for dessert it's traditional to have pumpkin pie with whipped cream :chew::beguiled::drool:

I have an cookbook called the Amish Family Cookbook. One of the first recipes in it is shoo fly pie. I have never made one, but it looks like with all the buzz I probably should.
Hope you give it a try. And to get into the mood make sure you end every sentence with ‘once’ while baking... and everything will be in apple-pie order. :)

I curious. It’s been years since I’ve had the old PA Dutch cookies served at the holidays... Ox Tongue Cookies. Are they in your book?
