lol... I used to have to keep reminding hubby if he didn't want his shoes chewed up, he needed to remember not to leave them on the floor. I was able to train the dog to chew on nylabones instead of shoes before I was able to train hubby not to leave his shoes on the floor lol

I give my dog my old shoes. Actually, I cut the soles off of them and give his the soles (just my shoes with the rubber soles). He has a big stack of shoe soles in the backyard. ;-D He likes soles as much as any toy I ever bought him.

My ex and I adopted a Shepherd-mix puppy which would eat all kinds of things which weren't ever dog food: books which my ex would insist on leaving on the floor, pairs of my ex's shoes or at least one of the two, my newly planted roses (dammit!). She ate at least one TV remote. She grew out of the bad habit, which was a relief, and a wonder she became a dog after all and not a plant or a shoe.

I do that too. My puppy loves to play with old tennis shoes. She's so stinkin' cute.

I was at a friends house one day and we were getting ready to go somewhere. He started looking for his shoes and couldn't find them anywhere. Finally, he found a pair of soles with no tops left. His puppy had eaten his shoes (they were leather boat shoes). ;-D

Once my dad was looking for his wallet and couldn't find it and he noticed a pile of photos, credit cards and money on the floor. The entire wallet was gone. ;-D

I used to take Joe with me everywhere. One day I went to visit someone, parked the car, and forgot my wallet, which I'd bought at an arts fair in Atlanta - nice leather, I really liked it. The visit was very short, I don't remember why, but when I returned to the car the wallet was spilled all over the place (and if you were to see the crap I keep in my wallet you'd best appreciate the mess), and the wallet was about one third eaten. I was able to continue using the wallet, which I insisted on doing. Word to the wise - certain dogs, especially certain puppies, love to eat all kinds of valuable things.
