Hey, guys!

I came here for I was googling Mr. King's opinion on the current events in Ukraine, but this thread is a must so here I go :)

I'm a Ukrainian artist who deals mostly with macabre. You can check out my art here and here.

Here's a small autobiography I've written for the Weird Tales website:

Serhiy puffs a cloud of smoke and there are words floating there:

I was born in the very heart of Ukrainian countryside, in the ominous year of 1984. I was so busy learning this world that didn’t even notice when Chernobyl said ‘BOOM!!!’ But soon I felt the need to learn a few more words myself and clawed my way to Kyiv, to study English language and literature.

A misfit at school, I was a misfit at the university (being the only guy in the group of girls) and the curse followed me – regular working environment repulsed me. So, eventually, battered by all kinds of lousy jobs, I made a leap of faith and proclaimed myself an artist – a decision I’ll never regret.

Since then I’ve continued with my obsessions, but allowed them to consume me and put them to my services. I translate from English into Russian, Ukrainian; write articles, horror fiction using the same languages. Also I draw a lot and paint a little and that’s my most prolific and recognizable occupation.

I managed to squirm into books and magazines on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean and plan to keep the pace.

I draw inspiration from books, music and movies. I’d be a different person without Clive Barker, John Carpenter, John Coulthart, W. H. Hodgson, Front Line Assembly, Stephen King, Nihei Tsutomu, David Cronenberg, Sidney Sime, KoRn, Thomas Ligotti, Ministry, William Gibson, Current 93, Dave McKean, Mamoru Oshii, Arthur Machen, David Bowie, Alan Moore, Virgil Finlay, W. S. Burroughs, Aleister Crowley, H. R. Giger, H. P. Lovecraft and Coil – all of them made me the person and artist I am now. Them and my dear parents – I love you.

The smoke dissipates and the speaker appears to be gone – only pictures remain.

Aaaaand here's something I did in 2005:

:bat:Nice to meet you, folks! :bat:

A HUUUGE THANK YOU for being so nice and amiable!:m_adore:

Welcome to the board. We only allow self promotion in this area of the board, so I have moved you from the newbie area to the self promotion area.

Your artwork is very good by the way.

Thank you, Dana! Ah, I posted the autobiography and all just to introduce myself, for if I start boasting away it's much more obvious! :evil_pig:But I'll be sure to show my SK pieces here ;-)

Oh, and thanks for the kind words! :m_excited:

I've gotten some very nice rejection emails from WT.

Welcome.

Thank you, Brian!

Was it Doug Draa who wrote back? He's a marvellous guy. But, to tell the truth, although he liked my works very much, it's been quite a while since the gallery at their website was posted and I had no commissions from them. So it's just the gallery. What am I doing? I'm dissolving the mystery!!!:hammer:

I LOVE your artwork! Very macabre! Do you do book covers and album covers?

Thank you, playful one! Yes, I do. I've been doing it professionally for 1,5 years now -- illustrations, book covers, album covers... Everything, as long as it pays and the project is interesting -- I do my best to keep it that way, but, of course, it excludes something I do for close friends and for the projects that don't have a lot of financial back-up -- ironically, usually it's the best stuff... I wish I didn't have to bother about earning for a living.

...Welcome, and may you be safe in the midst of this strife...

Thank you, darling! *hugs* It's always reassuring to know, that there are people out there who cares. I've seen the thread here on the subject of the current situation -- it's outrageous, that Russian extended their propaganda even here! But I'll post a short missive, just so the balance is more or less kept.

Welcome!

Your artwork is great! It is obvious you are a true fan of the macabre.

May all be well with you.

Thank you, man! You got me there -- I really am! SK was my first true love affair with horror literature :)
