If you are into meditating to music, then check this out;
Computer Love (7 min version) by Kraftwerk
I used to listen to it for hours on end when I was a teenager - I filled a C90 (90 mins) cassette with it, and played it continuously.
I didn’t even know what meditating was back then, I used to think of it as ‘zoning out’. All I know is; there is something therapeutic about the melody, and putting your mind into a relaxed and receptive state has always been beneficial for problem solving. And let’s face it, most teenagers lives are full of problems.
I was quite a troubled youth, but I found conquering academia much easier than conquering my mind. The way I achieved the latter though was through persistence, and by heeding the advice of people I aspired to be like.
As a young child I struggled with education. However, I managed to rise from 35th out of 35 as a 7-year-old, in Primary School, to 1st at Grammar School, aged 16.
I simply learned how to perform in exam situations. For example, I was the only person in our year to pass Physics ‘O’ Level (GCSE).
(After the multiple guess section, we were confronted with half a dozen questions, the subject matter of which our teacher had never covered - whoops! However, I managed to write solidly for the remainder of the exam, just by focusing on the words and phrases, within the questions, that I did understand. I only got a C grade, but a pass is a pass. Thus proving the theory that my old man taught me as a kid; ‘if you can’t blind ‘em with science, baffle ‘em with bullshit!’)
The true gauge of the quality of anything, is how it stands the test of time, and I still listen to ‘Computer Love’ to this day.
On a lighter musical note (no pun intended - honest), and as a bit of fun, I’ve compiled my desert island discs, for you, which I’ve chosen from the past 6 decades.
Obviously music taste is personal, but hey-ho these are my favourites anyway;
1960’s
This Old Heart of Mine - The Righteous Brothers
My Name is Jack - Manfred Mann
A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum
1970’s
Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits
American Pie - Don McLean
Rebel Rebel - David Bowie
1980’s
Livin’ on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
Golden Brown - The Stranglers
Computer Love - Kraftwerk
1990’s
Mo Money Mo Problems - Mace/Puff Daddy
The Return to Innocence - Enigma
Equador - Sash!
2000’s
My Immortal - Evanescence

Before I finish this post, I’d like to say thanks to the moderators for their help on previous ones.
Right, I’m off to pack my suitcase. Do you fancy a bit of sun, sea, and sand then?
Regards,
Andy.
