I am reading 'On Writing', having seen it praised many times. Although i may never achieve financial success as a writer, this book is like honey to my dry crust of bread.I've only been writing for seven years, because somewhere sometime that conviction that i had nothing important to say had to be slain. To know that the way that I write -which is to approach whatever project I am engaged in with anticipation of where the characters may take me - is valid is so gratifying. To know that it's ok to stop when the story is told is ok - is vindicating. To understand that even if only five people ever review my first published work and give it five stars is enough makes my heart sing. i've finally opened the door to my imagination so that improbable plots are welcomed and explored, not so much for the reader but for my own sense of adventure. I like your point of view, Mr King. I will continue to write and work hard at giving the characters their proper voice and when I feel discouraged I will open your book.
