Wilmington DE, strange little place.
I recently fill up a small dresser draw with books.

The most important and expensive books I have I put
in this draw [go slowly through the draws]

I have the king "Dark Tower"concordance and the S.K.
universe encycolpedia and Mr. Bev's book "The Road To The Tower"
Iv had these three books for years , they are my favs !! And the're in
really, REALLY bad shape...coffee, cig ash, cool aid, missing covers
dog ears...you name it.

I have started to take care of my other {favored} books
the draw is filled with King and only one other ...
the Wicked series of four books. by Greg McSomthing[Elphiba LIVES]
most of the king books are newer ones like Joyland and Mr mersds.
(there is one Joe Hill hard back book)

WHAT BOOKS DO YOU HAVE STASHED IN SAFE PLACES?
and what do you read over and over and dont care if it
gets beat-up ?

I have a copy of a book titled Our New Possessions by Trumbull White. Copyright 1898. The book is in fair condition but looks old.
It's probably a first edition.
I enjoy reading and rereading Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. No particular reason other than the fact her prose is exceedingly beautiful.
Stephen King I place on the top shelf of my bookcase. Beginning with The Stand.

Regular books I keep on the shelves, they seem to keep just fine. Comics, though--all the E.C.s, Vampis, Spirits, Spideys, etc.--bagged, boarded, longboxed. Mostly reprints, but I don't care. Comics are fragile, delicate things, and must be respected. Except Archies. Use those to line the birdcage or wrap fish.

...mine are all out in the great wide open on my bookcase...I enjoy the look of them, as well as the contents...

I do the same; open bookcase. I love looking at them on the bookcase and just walking by them is a high for me. Many times I will take one off the shelves
and reference something or just look at -- the dust jacket, read the back of it or the cover; they just make me feel good.
I have been looking for a second bookshelf for my 'other' books. They are
in totes right now in the storage room.

Not a stasher. All my books are on shelves in the very same room I'm in now (I basically nicked the smallest bedroom as a study/workspace/call it what you will). They always were on shelves, though, even when it meant squeezing between them and the foot of the bed twice a day.
Also, none of my books get beat up. Cracked spines, yeah, but that's about it. No using them as coasters or whatever.

I can never keep my comics and graphic novels in their plastic sleeves they keep slipping out and wanting to be read. Hence they're not in sell-able condition, even the ones I know are originals... not shabby, but not pristine either.....

Oh, I read em. Ain't none of em really worth anything. Ain't none in 'pristine mint', but I'd like to keep em from getting in worse shape. One thing I hate is a graded, sealed comic book. Well, maybe if it was Batman #1 or something. But if I had that, I'd probably trade it for a complete collection of E.C. Horror comics--and son, I don't care HOW valuable those are, I'd take em out and read the damn things.

...I have never understood the urge to buy nothing but graded comics....where's the thrill in that?....kinda like capturing a willing virgin and leaving it at that....

All out in the open. The only books put away in attics and other spaces are books i don't read. I'm so bad at giving/throwing books away. Not very many accept them anymore. My King stand in two overfull shelves, one book in front, and another behind it so i can use the whole deepth of the bookcase. My two most read books are IT and Watership Down. Have bought new copies of both.
