I looked around and hadn't seen any posts about this. I also noticed that it is missing from Beverly's amazingly helpful and truly awesome guide.
Looking around on ebay I've seen several different versions. Some with colored text over the black and white artwork and a signed version.
Supposedly if it came with the bookmark it was a limited edition of 5000 but you seem to be able to get them for less than the cover price.
This is cool to me because it came out on my birthday or the day after. (conflicting info)
Anyone else read this? It's a cool poem which dates all the way back to the beginning of King's Dark Tower legacy.

Yeah, I'm just not sure if mine is truly of the limited print or not. Honestly, I like the Orange/Red color scheme and that particular image better than the blue. Not that I'd ever get rid of it, I'd still like to know just exactly which one I have. I've come across lots of conflicting info.
Supposedly - first 5000 get the hard shell box and a bookmark.
- Different cover art

Weirdness - (I don't back any of this up personally) I've read that the initial press sold out within hours. Due to overwhelming pre-order demand more were printed the day before the release date. (how many? and was it an extension of the limited release?)
At least judging by interior pics I've come across on ebay there's a version with colored lettering over the B/W images. (what version is that? no info that I can find)
I've seen one that looks like it's black with the hard shell box. (could be a funky pic, again no info!)

What was yours like GTLGNT? Did you get the case and bookmark?

It's certainly a significant poem in the King oeuvre, as it is the genesis of Randall Flag, but whenever I think of this poem, I remember the miniseries of The Stand, with screenplay by King, and the scene where Frannie and her father are mocking Harold Lauder's published poem, which happens to be "The Dark Man". Her Dad reads the first stanza in an overblown, pompous and hammy voice, and Frannie grimaces and waves the air as if something stinks.

I think King might feel a bit embarrassed by The Dark Man, or at least he did back in the 90s when he wrote The Stand screenplay.
