We enter the world alone...we leave the world alone...and in between we learn the world is both intimate and aloof. There is a time for everything, a time to be alone, a time to be with others, a time to be with others and still be alone...a time to wear your favorite camouflage jacket to the doctor's office, stand in line to check out at the end, and have an older couple pass right by, never noticing you communing with the banana tree...a time to lose the camo and wear something bright and flashy, canary yellow pants, say, with that minute-man blue shirt...more so if you want to clear out the public loo...a time when being alone is priceless...though by the pics on Facebook, our troubled youth is learning otherwise.

I love living with my wife. But....

In the past couple years, I had an assignment that had me living out of a hotel room for a number of weeks on another part of the planet. I ate when and what I wanted to, drank when and what I wanted (which could be dangerous for a given personality), traveled when and where I wanted outside of the demands of the assignment, and went sightseeing and adventure-seeking without worrying about someone else's accommodations. And I loved that too.

If we have reasonable means, the enjoyment of life is up to us.

as for dancing, er I have two left feet. don't know how I danced with two blondes with my arms around each of them. I think they felt sorry for me. lol

All of your meals can be YOUR favorite foods
All TV shows/movies are YOUR choice
If you want to spend all day in your underpants, it's no one's business other than your own
Blessed, blessed quiet
If there's a mess, there are no recriminations: you know you did it
No snoring (unless it's you)
:D

I'm with you! If I manage to get a couple of hours in my house by myself I rejoice. This only happens maybe once a year.

Kurben You're doing OK! Hang in there.

The best thing: You can do what you like, when you like, with no nagging (apart from the little prissy anal-retentive voice in your head).

The worst thing (for me): I spent way too much on Chinese takeaways, because it was pretty much all I ate and the place was 100 yards up the road. They used to be closed on Tuesdays, so I'd go to the chippy round the corner instead. :D

A friend of mine (an ex, actually) went through a divorce about 7-8 years back. She said she hated being alone, despite the freedoms, and would give anything if it meant not being alone anymore (not to say she wanted her ex-hubby back, because he'd treated her like crap and she was happy to be rid of him, but anyway...).
She was single for 3-4 years, then met someone new. After a while they moved in together. You can guess what she said about 6 months in.
Yep.
"There are times I wish I had the place all to myself again".

I do like lonesomeness, not just all the time. Just for the possibility to sink into something be it a book or tv or a working project without consideration for others but still.... Enough of my whining all around the board. It will get sorted out eventually, one way or another.

You're not whining. You have pain, and your virtual friends are here to help. No worries.

Well, I think the neighbours would have something to say after awhile........
Ah, screw them, I say!! ;;D Just kidding, you don't want to make neighbors angry anyway. Things will be fine, Kurben. When the time is right that special lady will walk into your life and it will all be worth it, all of the strife and loneliness. Be patient and stay positive.
