Back.
I just spent an unexpectedly pleasant weekend with my daughter and her dad. He flew down to see her but stayed with my current Tall Guy and me. And it wasn't weird a bit, having my ex husband and TG under one roof. It was actually kind of cool. Showing the ex around, my TG and I, our daughter and her boyfriend got out and did more in a weekend than we did all summer.

We toured the USS Kidd, berthed on the Mississippi in Baton Rouge, toured the Naval museum there, checked out the Belle of Baton Rouge,

which is a casino on a boat permanently docked within spitting distance of the Kidd, and ate at some restaurants I've never been in. Just this morning, the ex took my daughter and me out to breakfast at a place literally right around the corner that I'd heard of, but have never eaten in. It's one of those diners that looks like it used to be a rounded metal mobile home. Well, here's a pic of it.

They have an amazing breakfast menu.
Anyway, that's what I've been up to.

Happy Tuesday, Y'all!!!

My work day is a long one today.....9:30 until 7:00.
You probably won't see me much today......and yes, I know some of you will rejoice!:p
Try not to miss me or celebrate my absence too much......I will be back!!

Sunny, Sunny...... You know you are always missed when not around. How would we survive without your wit, your daisies and your hunks?

I'm back from my game of floorball, played rather well too..., and afterwards some of us visited a pub and downed a couple of beers and a burger. I had Chimay blue, a belgian beer that was really tasty. Rather tired now but it is a good tiredness.

Awesome example you all set for your daughter. I applaud you.

Evidence of a great time! Last concert I went to was Dave Matthews Band - I danced so much I felt like I'd been hit by a truck the next morning and I totally couldn't speak. It was the best good time!

I threw up at a Motley Crue concert in 1986. Wine coolers, all over someone sitting in front of us. I'm so proud. It's one of those stories my friends from that era like to tell over and over.

I thought I had had the best good time ever, but I didn't throw up, so now I'm thinking I should do it again.....this time with the wine coolers......you know, just to be sure :biggrin-new::D

That is a good concert story, btw.

Awesome pictures, Sunny! Glad you had a great time. Did Tommy bring someone on stage to go round and round with him during his solo? He did when we saw them. That was one of the coolest parts of the show, the drum solo!
Thanks!!! I took over 550 pix during both shows, so I'm still weeding through them.
Tommy didn't bring anyone up to the drum solo. It may have been a safety concern.....that thing went way up!
I can imagine that was a really cool part of the show.....I would have went with him.....but Nikki blowing me a kiss was awesome, too!

My daughter would writhe with envy of your granddaughter's hair! She desperately wants it dyed a wild color, but she got a job that forbids 'unnatural' hair colors. My heart isn't broken--growing out dyed hair is a PIA, and with teenage girls often involves tears. I'm not great with tears.
They make some really cool colored "hair mascaras" these days. It might be a good option for her for a fun weekend. It's temporary, so it washes right out in one shampoo.

Stopped for bagels while taking one of the granddaughters to school this morning. She said she liked my sunglasses, so she tried them on.

She's adorable!

I have training in a couple of weeks...but I don't wanna go. Saturday's are MY days, KWIM? Trying to think of a way to back out--is that awful of me? Third grade is okay so far, but TBH, I liked my older kids better.

Nope - not horrible at all. It's a lot of work being a volunteer. I bugged out on the entire 3 days in July, so I had to do a make up day - and they crammed it all into 1 day. I'm thinking if it can be done in 1 day, why drag it out 3 days anyway. See if you can do something online - is it just for catechist hours?

So, I heard back from the indie newspaper; I'm in as gov't reporter, with occasional forays into 'lifestyle' pieces. :) Thank you all for the good wishes; I'm sure they made the difference. Something told me to pick up an AP Styleguide at the book sale, and I'm glad I did--this paper uses that one, vs. the Chicago Manual of Style (my publisher uses that one). I have to brush up on the differences between them! I can use the ducats :)
That is wonderful news!!!!

I vote Liam Neesen.
Love, Actually

Lepplady I love that your ex-husband stayed with you and Tall Guy. What a sweet story!
