Good morning. Happy Friday. I slept until about 8:00 this morning which is nearly unprecedented. I wake up before 6:00 most all of the time. I have to say it was wonderful. I put on a pot of good ol' Red Rose Tea instead of coffee, I did my chores (most of them) before I plopped my butt down in front of this computer (chore thief) and so I guess this is kind of a different Friday for me. I dig it. Nor do I have any appointments, or anything I need to do that requires outdoor apparel so I'm staying jammie clad today. I love today. It's also my Saturday so, yeah.

Have a great weekend!!

TGIF!! I am so ready for the weekend. We have a little party on Saturday. Juho's friend invited us to their house so we are going there and have fun. Oh and we celebrate with Juho our second anniversary on Sunday. Hard to believe we have been together two years already. Times surely flies by.

Hope we get some good weather on the weekend. Forecast says sun but we'll see.

Take care and be well. Stay safe too!!

Today I get to make a chicken coop. Did some floor work for this customer a month or two back, guy had holes in his floor, toilet canted to the right say if you were sitting on it and I made another hole by stepping on a shallow crater in the wood particle floor. His sister was on hand from time to time and she'd say something in an Andy Rooney voice, I don't want to put any pressure on you, but do you think you could install this cabinet we have in the back room? Sure. Not a problem. Let's go get it. He called before last weekend, said he wanted a chicken coop. So, I paid him a visit. He wasn't wearing his teeth. Sputnik tells me a week ago...he doesn't wear his teeth! One of those eureka moments, said, that's what it was! He looked like a little old man...though he's about ten years younger than me.

He'd bought 6 chicks and two ducks from Tractor Supply, carried them home in a small box, had a picture of a coop T.S. sells...for $200 he said. Box also has pictures of all the essentials to help them stay healthy and strong! You got your Farmhouse Coop (1152253), Flock Block, Dumor Chick Grit, pile of other stuff. You wanna see them? he asks. I figure tiptoeing is in order, given the manner in which he phrased the question. So, I tiptoe in the direction he indicated--an empty space next to the gas stove where some sort of wire pen is set up. Now it reminds me of this once, carnival...Giant Killer Rat...had to see it, begged ma for a dime, paid the man, tiptoe up the wood steps, look down. Little critters cock their head up, 3 bantams and 3 specialty breed...plus the two ducks, straight run. Box says a buyer could also get pullets, sexed females...heh! or cornish rocks, straight run. There's some sort of hot light set up to keep them warm.

Scrounged some chain link from another customer, told the man who wants the coop I have some metal to use on the roof he wants it, said yeah okay, suggested a shed-type roof, rather than a gable, but he has his heart set on a gable so be it. Need to pick up some more wire. Coop will be small...the one on offer at T.S. is small, mine will be a tad larger, able to move it around. I hope the chicks like it, ducks too...they're probably harder to please than the chicks. Good thing I patched the holes in his floor, laid new vinyl.

Probably turn the garden over, too...pick up some onion sets and put them in the ground, turn the compost pile over. Should just put it (compost stuff) in big plastic garbage cans like I'd done in the past, throw in a bunch of worms. The worms turn the compost into usable soil in no time at all.

Actually, it wasn't a chicken coop...it was a duck house. Ducks are pretty tough customers but Kevin didn't bring the ducks outside yesterday probably a good thing plus I'm not done with it yet needed to pick up more 2x4s and wire. When I did his floor DHS paid the bulk of the cost, safety issue and all, holes in the floor, and we bartered the rest of it or close enough, a gun he won at the Baptist Church Big Buck Night Raffle, one of them Henry Arms Survival Rifles, little .22 you can break down and store in the plastic stock. He had the ducks and chicks separated in his kitchen, hot lights for both groups, the chicks starting to get some color having lost their yellow baby feathers. He'd also gotten some more chicks and another duck. Built mostly using used lumber, one new sheet of OSB for the duck house portion of the enclosure, some chain-link I bartered with another customer for but it wasn't enough...had to pick up a 50' roll of wire from Tractor Supply, that and some new 2x4s...up to around $75-worth that maybe I don't get paid for, about $50-worth of garage sale priced recycled wood and metal, labor. Didn't finish it. So I didn't get the garden turned over...maybe today...after I finish this job for Kevin. I think he was wearing his teeth yesterday. I hope I don't have duck dreams.
