Just my own personal opinion here-- definitely being taken advantage of in many ways. May I ask if she provided the food for the dog before hand?
Am of same thoughts as Grandpa. She had the money to go on a several weeks vacation to Europe. Did she even offer you any monetary compensation at all? And she asks again for you to watch her "companion" while she takes an art course! Taken advantage of for sure. Used is more like it.

Is she aware of what pet sitters fees are? What if the dog had been placed in a kennel for that duration? Those fees are astronomical., and no personal care. She had the best care available for her companion, yet she does not show you the respect or gratitude you so deserve.

The words danie uses are excellent and spot on for your approach to this "friend"!

I'll make one more point-- exactly what are her intentions, for the care of her companion, the next time she seeks a vacation, or has an art class, or just wants time to herself? In no way are you being a jerk. Your friend needs reality ck.

She left just enough food while she was away, but said I should feed her only 1/3 cup a day. It wasn't enough
so I feed her that twice a day. The food she buys is moderately expensive and I had to buy another bag. Took 2 buses each way to get it. She left treats in the freezer but told me to give her none -- said she didn't need them and they are too expensive. I gave her 2/day, they are very small and I had a bag of Dentastix I got free with a coupon and gave her one of them every 2 or 3 days. She wa pissed about the food and treats and still haven't been paid for the food.
You are right in what you are saying Spidey but I know if I don't look after her she will leave her by herself.
She is such a sweet little dog I just can't bear to think of her alone.
She dropped her off at 12:30 this afternoon, said she would be back by 2 and it is after 6 and she is not back.
I have no way to get into her place to get the dog's food and she is hungry.Because of her age (11 yrs) she is
on a special diet, so I cannot give her people food. I am just in tears I feel so bad for her.
I will probably lose it when she does show up.

I give people one shot to seriously test the friendship in this way. After that, they've cashed it out. I may have lost a few friendships along the way, but if their friendship was based upon what I could do for them, it's not exactly equitable.

Can afford to be gone for several weeks and go to Europe but can't afford something nominal for the dogsitter? I call BS in a big, steaming pile.

Do everything you can for her for free, and she really can't afford much else while she spends a bunch of money. Yeah, I don't want her to be my boss. I can see where this is going.

Thanks Grandpa. Yup, I see where this is going too...

I agree 100%! Something similar happened to an acquaintance of mine (who passed away last year :( ). She kept taking care of a "friend's" dog. The "friend" suddenly moved out of state while she was dogsitting and just left her dog behind.

That's awful Morgan! I am sure she was better off with your friend but still, what a lousy thing to do.

That is just so unfair to you and the dog. I may have missed it, what breed? Yes, special diet food is very expensive and sold in limited places-- this I know well.

I see your fear about the care, or should I say lack of care the dog will get if you do not continue. It isn;t right. Your friend should not have a companion dog. Please keep us posted.

If you continue to have doggie all the time, you will have to become the "owner". It would be best for the pup.

Grandpa - how is the new doggie?

Thanks for asking! Has a bit of a naughty spell here and there, but overall, I think he's doing fine.

Okay, it's grainier here than on Facebook. Whoops.

My baby girl was on prescription food for half of her life. Please keep us posted - if you have to (or want to! :love_heart: ) keep caring for this precious dog, I will find a way to send you some money to help. (I think I still have your address unless you've moved.) Once again, God bless you for caring for this beautiful dog.

Morning Gunners, happy Monday. :)

Well the cough and the fever I get in the evening, wont go away for weeks and weeks now, so I did an x-ray on Saturday. I should know the results today.
If it`s pneumonia or just some virus, all right then.
But if it`s something worse....well that would not be all right, would it now?
My doctor opens in a few hours, so I`m waiting to call him.
Gotta admit, not easy to wait, I`m kinda nervous if something is gonna show up on the x-ray.
Well, hoping for the best. :)
Hope you had a good weekend
. :)
