I'm glad this week has come to an end. People are coming into town for The Valley Fair, the Wooly Worm Festival, Appalachian's home game, and leaf peeping. Traffic sucks. They hired a new girl at work, and the rest of us are questioning if she has a cosmetologist license, because she's completely clueless. Had to ask how to hold hair to cut it....in front of the client. Then she had to ask how do do a coloring service.....now, I'm as willing as anyone to help or give advice, but when I say that she knows nothing, I mean that she doesn't even know how to measure color and developer. I had to show her the ounce marks on the bottle, tried to explain toner processing, and basically did all the brain work for her and the girl still did it wrong.....twice!
Had to talk with our manager about it yesterday, and thankfully, some of the other girls had also expressed concerns. We can't have clients leaving with bad hair. We all work very hard for our clientele, and our reputation.....one bad comment can undo years of good work. Manager understands and is going to have a chat with the new girl.
The work day ends at 3:30 today. The country boys will be hanging out at my place all weekend. Y'all come on by.....have a cold beer, or some cold Southern Comfort......leave your troubles out at the old tree......we'll leave the light on for ya.
...cold Southern Comfort?....:dizzy:...that and Yukon Jack made me swear off of sweet whiskey for good.....not near as much fun, when it comes back upstairs.....ack.....

Thanks! We are too. We don't want anyone to have a hard time, but we're pretty hardcore about the quality of work that leaves the salon.
...yes they are!!!....

She's supposedly transferring her license from another state. We're honestly trying to figure out if she's just nervous, or if she's just not got what it takes......so far, it's the latter.
Is it possible she was into poodle grooming in the past?

As long as she doesn't try to go for the
anal glands!

Just doing laundry (whites and darks) and might fill out a card for a certain member's wife who's in hospital.

Last night I swung by the Shopper's Drug Mart for a few essentials on the way home from night shift - thank goodness they are open until midnight - got the 55+ senior's discount as well.

Now that I am back in my regular routine I am noticing the difference - having two weeks off to laze around was nice but being back to walking a lot every shift is actually pretty good too!

It's Friday, right? Really does not matter one way or the other to me - I am working this weekend on the 2:30 to 10 p.m. shift - my day of rest comes on Monday.

Love and Green Lights and Happy Friday to those regular Mon. to Fri. folks!

This week I had my third child to be criticized by a teacher for reading a book by Mr. King (only my younger daughter hasn't had that experience). LilMan's LA class had just watched a YT vid with Mr. King talking about writing, and son mentioned that he is almost finished with a book by Mr. King (Eyes of the Dragon--his second book by Mr. King). The teacher replied with a sniff that she didn't read such things because they are "full of bad language and gratuitous graphic sex." The Kid is now getting the cold shoulder from some other kids in the class.

Sigh.

She obviously hasn't read anything by Mr. King (out of over 60 books, I can only think of three graphic sex scenes, and two are intrinsic to the story. I didn't like The Regulators at all and can only remember that it struck me for graphic sex, but I can't remember exactly what it was or if it seemed justified by the story). Ignorance combined with smug prissiness just tweaks my nanners. Language is character driven, of course, and Mr. King has written some foul mouths. However, not as many as you might expect, and it is always part of character inner monologue or dialogue, not the narrative. And he does not write for small children (or small minds--lol). Aaargh!

At least she didn't take his book--I've had that experience twice before and had to immediately have a come to Jesus meeting with teachers. That will happen at parent/teacher conference at the end of next week with this one.

Bring this woman kicking and screaming into the year 2017. Good luck with the parent/teacher conference,
she is going to need it. :)

Your son or the sloth.:smile2::love_heart:
Well, I actually have the sloth in my possession. The child has flown the coop. I got to visit with him in his natural habitat though, and he is well and thriving.

But, shhhhhhhh, talk softly and don't make eye contact -- he's skittish and will hide behind the nearest hipster.

I just looked at my registration and then on the county website to see a breakdown of the fees, but couldn't find any. Just the county fee and the state fee.

They base the county fee on the factory price of the vehicle, though. They list the depreciated value on the registration, but the fee is calculated on the factory price. So registration costs the same every year, unless fees rise. It never goes down with depreciation. This year the state fee went from $15 to $30.

The state fee for the tags is $35 so not too bad but the excise tax is an entirely different matter. I think the first year I had my car (2012) it was between $400-$500 for the excise tax. Just checked my registration and it's now down to $130 but that is the minimum amount and I'll have to pay that every year as long as I own the car along with the $35, plus there was a $3 "agent fee". :glare:
