I have a question for the Tet: I decided to try to make a new seat for an old chair we rescued from my mom's basement when she moved--it was on its way to the dumpster, but it looked nice to me. Anyway, I removed what was left of the old caned seat and found a date. 188_ (can't read the last number). Would anyone know if this is worth having professionally restored? I know very little about antique furniture.

Hi everyone! Just popping in for a few minutes. We are still at my mom's, we're going to meet her for lunch and then head home.

Frontier Days was awesome! Rodeo was really fun, but oh so hot. A kid from home made it to the final round in the bull riding on Sunday. All the events were fun to watch.
Brad Paisley was awesome too! Looked good, sounded great. He signed a guitar and gave it to a little girl, about 10 years old. ((Aww)).

We had a ton of fun, got a little sunburned, but it was worth it.

Sending big hugs and positive vibes to all! I'm going to need to sleep for a week after all the fun of the last week. Talk to you all soon!

I know next to nothing about refurnishing antiques but have a friend who has furnished most of her house that way. I will ask her for some guidance. In the meantime, I am sure that someone here has some ideas. Pretty smart group, dontcha know!

Not 100% sure. Sometimes doing any restoration on an antique piece will actually diminish its value. If you're looking at it as an investment piece, that might be something to consider. If you just want it as a nice piece of furniture, might not be as big a deal. Probably best to get a professional opinion.
