I'm glad it's fixed!

You can get more memory by adding an external hard drive, plugs right into a usb port. You can put documents and pictures on the external, freeing up your laptop's memory. I caution you, though, to keep copies of anything you store on your external, as well as your laptop. These things have been known to take a dump on you. Then retrieving your data can get costly. Trust me. I'm still saving up to get my documents back.

Yeah, I use an usb-stick at the moment a library staff told me this because you can't trust those library pc's either. And to be really sure I have a back up while using a cloud. Is dropbox known in the USA? Dropbox is free of charge.
I only lost a short introduction. I should do a back up of all my data on this weekend on my external.
I am sorry for your loss of data. Didn't they want 1000$ from you. That's so much money.

I do.
I'm just here for a moment. I'm working on my friend's dot com, or trying to. Yahoo finally released the doman, so I'm on Godaddy now. Problem is, I'm hooked up with their site builder. That means I have no access to the file manager, and my site building capabilities are limited to the tools they offer, which are basic, at best. Drag and drop works for a lot of people, but I guess I'm just not one of them. I want to pick a background image, if I want an image instead of color, not settle for one of the few generic backdrops they offer. I need to be able to offer variables for the things for sale, like size and color, and I want to be able to show multiple images from different angles. In short, (I know, too late), there are just too many options I want to be able to personalize, to control.
So I have to switch from their site builder "plan" to their webhosting plan so I can work with the file manager. And in the meantime, day after day go by, my friend asking "How's it coming" which translates to "Are you done yet?"
At least I've got a couple things on ebay for him. I'm not sharing the link because there are only two things on there. In the first month, a seller can only list 10 items in the first month. And, go figure, a pair of leggings that come in four patters and two sizes each adds up to 8 items. And a pair of mock stockings comes to nine. I haven't decided on a tenth item yet, but it'll probably be another pair of mock stockings.
It seems like I'm doing a lot of work, fiddling with code and listing items, etc, but not really getting anything done.
Comfort food is called for. And coffee. And a race to look forward to later.
:)

I'm sorry to say that I'm cloud-illiterate. I just can't wrap my brain around sending my files out there.... somewhere... I just don't feel like there's anything secure about that. For one thing, I don't know who can really access my stuff, and second, there's nothing saying that they won't start charging for storage or something, with my files held hostage for blackmail. I do need to back my stuff up, but I'd rather keep it here, at home, where only I can get at it.
