Instead of tearing up the kitchen, I think I'll cook out. All weekend.

What a wonderful heroic act, and so tragic for the families. I'm so glad the people and puppies were saved!I walked the kids to school, and got a good look at those two houses. Oh my goodness. It is so sad. You can still hear the smoke detectors going off, as you walk by.
The kids have a new principal this year. He noticed the smoke and ran right over, helped to get two ladies and two small children out of the house. Then he ran next door, and went right in the house to warn them and no one was home but the dogs. He got them out and to safety, too. There was a picture of the lady kissing her pooches in the paper yesterday. It brought tears to my eyes.
I have not met the new principal yet, but knowing he did this makes me like him a whole lot already. No word yet about how the fire started, but since there is still yellow tape around it and you can hear the smoke detectors still, I imagine insurance people have not been there yet.
Anyway, just wanted to share that little bit of heroism with you all. There are still some good people in the world.
