Meh, but things are looking up. Thanks for askin.

That's the attitude. Don't let the bassers beat you. Went down in the shop to varnish some wood...been...12 years I guess. Home-work. Stopped the hummin...though I thought I could hear it coming up the steps. Thing is...no wind. Looked...trees are still. So...time to get that addition done...got it almost done then called it good enough. Figure to paint the walls again...touch up some areas of the drywall...cathedral ceiling...never did get the windows stained & varnished, trimmed out...so I don't have to cut in with an angle-sash...carpet is down though, been down, so I got a tarp spread. Wife tells me you said it's okay to leave the wood unfinished. I said that? She nods...but you said it best be done before six months. I said that? Yes. Heh! 12 years. Wellllll, I say...it actually will work out okay 'cause this pine don't take a stain dark like it should...and it's weathered some now. She's upstairs now getting ready to do some e-bayin...purses. Never saw such a pile of purses. She tries to cue me in. I nod in all the right places...tell her after that ordeal I need to go varnish some wood. But...the house isn't hummin anymore so all is well.

My sleeping problems continue but in another way. Now i do sleep enough hours. The problem is that i'm doing it at the wrong hours. For some days i have been sleeping about 7 hours aday which i'm happy about but the time. It has usually been between 3 PM to 10 PM and that is not so good. I think i was meant to live in another timezone or something.... I must try to fix that somehow.

Were you able to fix it? And if so, how?
Not really. The problem for me is that I work and play with people living in different time zones to me and so naturally want to be awake when they are... but, it means that I only sleep (on average) for about 4 hours out of 24. It isn't good for me but I have been doing it for so long now that I can't seem to change it. If I go to bed super early (or at a normal time--for normal people) then I wake up in the middle of the night and I am done.
So, I just tend to stay up (very) late and then sleep solidly once I'm out.

Is this something quite new for you? (Perhaps the Internet interactions are (don't take this the wrong way :biggrin2: ) over-stimulating you and so therefore you are unable to get any quality rest... at the right time/s?)

You got it Flake! It is all your fault..... Kidding aside, lately it has been a choice between sleeoing at the wrong times or not sleeping at all. But i have some social things in this time also which have to be maintained. I will try to fix it. We'll see how it goes. I wouldn't mind sleeping some hours less as long as it was quality sleep. Oh, well.. One of the burdens of life i guess. I'm hoping my coming trip will take care of some the problem, i usually sleep good when on vacation for some reason.

Yeah. So. The noise is not simply my imagination...this noise that sounds like the house is getting in touch with its self? OOOOOOOOOooom! Wind, I figure, must be the wind. Don't watch much teevee so that white noise isn't there to drown out my thoughts...or the house getting in touch with its self. OOoooom!...pause...OOooom!
Gaaaaaw! I ask the wife...do I need to come in there! She's in the kitchen right, e-bayin? I'm in the living room kicked back on the couch....Oooooom! No! Sometimes she gets smart and says Yes! That's it! I'm comin in there! But I don't. Feet up, book open...Oooooom!...try to read with that noise...OOOOOOooom!
Do you hear that? Sounds like...an organ...I think...someone pressing four or five keys all at once...the air running down in the pipes at the same time. No idea, me what it is. Yes! she says. Whuddaya think it is? The furnace. Ya think? I thought maybe it was the wind howling past the pipe up there...thinkin, soil pipe, but she doesn't know what a soil pipe is...that pipe that exits your roof, extends upward about a foot foot and a half...to let the stink out...gases, sewer gases. Ooommmm!
Thing of it is, like when the old biddy next door sold her house...her son-in-law'd been putting stampsand in this hole that kept opening up in back. Big rain...big hole...stampsand. He even threw some bricks in there. Rain...hole. I thought an animal was tunneling under there...but no...the ground is caving in maybe. I wonder if...I wonder wonder...wind...probably the wind...there's all these mine shafts around here...and I dunno...seems like in the past I'd feel these vibrations, big logging truck would go by? then, for sure...but I'm talkin when all is quiet, like 4-ay-emm quiet and you feel a shudder. or...you think you felt one and you wait for it to happen again...and it doesn't.

Walter it could be the eaves on your house. The roof over our porch used to make a sound like an organ when it was windy. I think it was the wind blowing through the layers of the facia and wood? It scared the crap out of me the first time it happened! We couldn't really fix it though. It was just the way the house was built.

Folks not sleeping well, have you guys tried running a loud fan? I found one roughly louder than Godzilla, and I find it helps. I can't sleep in a quiet room.
Sounds crazy, but give it a try. Tell us how it works.
I sleep with an air purifier close to me, which is fairly loud. It does help. I used to sleep with the TV on, way before I struggled with insomnia. After reading all of the studies about "unplugging" from technology (computer, TV, smartphone, etc.) several hours before bed time, I quit doing that.
