I didn't think the movie was so bad so I don't know why they have to go messing with this. For me King based movies have their own "section." I know most are cheesy but I still really like them and enjoy seeing the books and stories on film( I despised Firestarter though).

Because everyone is $$ hungry (this is all business after all) and the trend now is to buy 1 property and extend the hell out of it. More bang for the buck. This in turn is giving us a lot of really bad, drawn out and poorly written shows/movies.

Again, the show is just trying to ape the current cultural trend for apocalyptic drama. So instead of the Walking Dead we get the Walking Tentacle (ok, not a great analogy). It might be a good show but it won't be the book.

I am not even sure of the market - the film adaptation of The Mist was very much movie marmite - you loved or hated it. I have friends who hate it because of the ending and some who think it is a masterpiece. So its not like everyone can agree it was a great film.

I loved it, btw.

This could be a bang-up show if done properly. It could be another top-notch show like The Walking Dead. If the audience becomes involved enough with the characters, then it could go on for a long, long time.

I still don't understand the need to milk this story for all it's worth. It was a great, done-in-one film and a TV series will add nothing to the mythology. Honestly, part of the charm of the story is nobody knew what brought about the Mist and nobody knew how to eliminate it. If the people behind this just want a survival drama set against an apocalyptic background to compete with The Walking Dead, then why not adapt The Stand as a series instead of 2 (or even 4) films. Let's face it: 1) the survival drama aspect of TWD borrows HEAVILY from The Stand, and 2) there is more than enough material in the extended cut of the book to warrant a cable show, not to mention a large enough cast.

The movie almost feels a bit like a dry run for The Walking Dead now. Some of the same actors and a sort of very realistic feeling. The movie disappointed me quite a bit, I always imagined the story in a different style, more like Carpenter's The Thing - just a different feel to it, perhaps less talkative - but you're kind of limited in space in a small supermarket, you WOULD probably talk a lot in such a situation.

The novella is very open ended, if you approach it like The Walking Dead you can have it going forever. Although at some point you have to go to the source of what started it, which could be interesting - I was hoping the movie would be more clear of that than the story, that's what disappointed me a bit about it too.
