I know this may be a bit off-topic, but have you ever read Mario Puzo's The Godfather? The book was terrible, but it was made into a classic (in every sense of the word) movie.

John

I have not read that book, although I will take your word for it. I suppose I should have been more specific in my previous post, as I meant to reference only the King catalog.

I should be very surprised if there isn't a plethora of horrible generic stories out there that were made into passable movies, but that should probably be a thread of its own.

while John Campbell's "Who goes there",written in the fifties I think wasn't bad,I liked both versions of the movie better,Howard Hawkes' and John Carpenter's..

I think the book was way better than the film.
You've got it right :yes_pig:I wish more people would read, rather than just waiting for a movie to come out.

Although since I am married to someone who is not an avid reader, at least he will get to see 11/22/63 when that comes out.

My husband is not an avid reader either, but I have got him to watch some of the better adaptations.

Joe St. George, Big Driver (and his mother),... ...Annie Wilkes, Brady (can't remember his last name-- dude from Mr. Mercedes), The Overlook Hotel.
I agree with these and also Rose the Hat and Norman Daniels, as others have mentioned.

But if I had to choose just one:
That guy standing in the corner in the shadows keeping ever so quiet and watching while the woman was handcuffed to the bed in "Gerald's Game".
