I look a bit unprepared in the third shot - Debbie's niece (aka "Taylor Swift") gave no warning as to when to say "cheese". She did take a second photo, but unfortunately it was blurry.
It is just nice to have three of us together in this shot. We would have squeezed Scott in, but he was moving the vehicle and checking out.

howdy Neesy! The pictures are fine. I love them. Looks like you enjoyed yourselves.
Yes! Lots of fun. Even at the Golden Corral too. I liked seeing Tommy, fushingfeef's wife as well as the two girls Addie and Jillian; and so nice to meet with Agincourt Concierge and her new hubby JRLauer. (Aggie and Teddy).

nate_watkins is a real gentleman, too!
(I asked if his name was really natewatkins, and he said yes (but without the underscore)(Good one, Nate!)

I am actually wearing my bright orange pumpkin shirt at the moment (oops I mean my KingKon 2014 shirt)!

Monarch caterpillars Mansfield.jpg
I know this is not the "Under the Dome" thread, but these guys were behind the Travel Lodge in Mansfield Ohio.

They are the type of caterpillars that turn into Monarch butterflies.
I am an early morning riser, and I was just walking around the outside parking lot and saw them, so I took a picture with my cell phone.

p.s. Andy described our room as "homely" which does not mean it was ugly! That is a British expression and means quite comfortable and cozy.

Our room had a LazyBoy recliner and Andy just sunk into that the first night after driving for so long!

This is the front of the post card that Scott mailed out to anyone who gave him a mailing address. I sent two of them to Scotland, one to my sister in Toronto, four to friends in Winnipeg and I even sent one back to GNTLGNT from our trip back home. (oh yeah - one to Tennessee as well) king family fan :rugby:
Thank you GNTLGNT for your generosity in supplying those! :biglove:

Glad you had a good time neesy! thanks for the photos and you and Andy look great!
Thanks DJ! I am hoping more SKMBers can be in Colorado in 2016. That should be a good time and lots of fun for all.
p.s. (When we were lost and ended up taking a different route around Chicago, all I could think of was that song by Jim Croce about Bad Leroy Brown (you know "on the south side of Chicago, in the baddest part of town, you better just beware" etc.etc.)

Hi it's me Neesy kingzeppelin - who is that "wee ghostie" on the extreme right? Thanks for doing that!

Like Agincourt Concierge said - we did look a bit like pumpkins in our orange shirts.

Andy and I took the wrong ramp on the highway at Chicago - we stopped at a 7-11 to get our bearings and knew we were really lost when we saw a sign for Chicago O'Hare Airport. Anyway, long story short, after much sweating and gnashing of teeth we eventually found out way and continued to follow the path of "The Beam". Unfortunately that, combined with traffic delays due to construction and having to work a full day on Wednesday before departing all contributed to our late arrival.

I took a photo of a "Tower" while passing Chicago and there was a big truck with a Maine license plate (number plate for kingzep) so I guess that was a good sign and helped me feel better.

Everyone was lovely in Ohio - after the whole group had left, Andy and I went exploring a bit on our own. He has lots of photos in his camera which he will try to download onto our desktop but for now here is one from my camera:

p.s. We took the Sunday afternoon tour (just Andy and me) and we chose the "Hollywood" tour. By the way, I did hear Scott's recording and it sounds eerily like a small boy's voice speaking.

On our Sunday tour we saw the Vintage Baseball Team dressed in costumes and playing baseball from 2 until 4 p.m. They said they played 1863 rules, meaning "no baseball gloves, protective equipment etc."

Tracy took this pic. It is the only one that is small enough (in KBs) - the others will have to be resized.
...now you know how Tracy feels standing under my boob....

Again, not Shawshank, but nevertheless, this pic was on our wall in the first hotel room we stayed at on the road, so I took a photo of it (Reminds me of 11/22/63).

Incidentally, guess what Andy bought me at Main Street Books in Mansfield? (yup - my own copy of 11/22/63). Now if I could just get that copy of Carrie from Cemetery Dance publications my collection will be a bit closer to almost complete!

We also picked up a paperback of "Roadwork" by Richard Bachman for only $2.50 there as well.

Thank you so much, Neesy, for sharing all your wonderful photos. It sounded like you and Andy have a wonderful trip. Sorry for the detour in Chicago--roadways in the USA can be very confusing. Glad you were safe.
We were both tired and Andy is not a morning person so it is easy to miss an important exit.

Took this shot with my camera outside of a convenience store where we got gas, ginger ale and a nice little bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream.

One thing I noticed - they like sweet tea down there, not "hot tea". If you ask for a hot tea, most do not really know the proper way to make it. (That must be our British influence talking, but then again, I am married to a Scotsman!)

Here is a weird picture. It is the light coming in from four different windows and it forms an "X". The tour guide said on a night where there is a full moon (especially around Hallowe'en), the X on the floor is quite visible. Some people from Paranormal Investigations or some place similar told them that there is a "portal" there
