Hey everyone! This is just a thread to discuss the self-proclaimed (and rightfully!) 'Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World'!
A few rules:
  1. Be respectful of others' opinions-DON'T 'SHOUT' AT THEM! ;)
  2. Keep it clean! Refer to songs like 'Starf***' as 'Star Star,' aka their clean names.
  3. Don't post download links! Don't want the Board to be known as a Pirate's Paradise! ;)
  4. Have fun!

Can't wait to talk to some of you about the Stones! :)

Truly a great band! What a catalog of songs they have! I have a whole lot of their stuff on my Amazon Cloud Player.
I saw them back in 1966, when they were just getting started, and 'Satisfaction' was out. I was in the fifth row right, in front of Keith.
Brian Jones was beautiful!
Favorite song? I can't pinpoint just one, but I do love 'Heaven' a lot, and "Almost Hear You Sigh' is another I love.

Been a Stones fan for a long time. I've been lucky enough to see them three times. Kieth is the real musician, but Jagger is a front man parexelance! Together they are the greatest rock 'n roll band in the world. Favorite album Beggars Banquet. But favorite song, Honkey Tonk Woman. Go figure

I wish they would all go into assisted living....I am sick of them. My favorite song of them is The Girl With The Far-away Eyes. I sorta like Mick....though he is starting to look silly high-stepping around like a myna bird.

It is one of the easiest-hardest questions I could think of. I almost asked 'What's your favorite album/song,' but I can't pick just one! :)

ALBUMS

1. Sticky Fingers
2. Let It Bleed
3. Beggars Banquet
4. Some Girls
5. Exile On Main Street

SONGS

1. Gimme Shelter
2. Jumping Jack Flash
3. Wild Horses
4. Sway
5. Sympathy For The Devil
6 Paint It Black
8. All Down The Line
9. When The Whip Comes Down
10. You Can't Always Get What You Want

The album list is pretty solid (3,4 & 5 could swap places). The song list can completely change.

Favorite song: Sympathy For the Devil
Favorite Stone: Gotta go with Keith. He's a hell of a musician.

(BTW, any discussion of the Stones makes me think of John Dalglish. One of the first, best memories I have of this board was of a grand 'Stones vs. Beatles' debate. Makes me happy and sad at the same time)

Yep, I adore how it starts, so ethereal and compelling, then becomes a tune you really must play extra loud, like turn the knob to pain and bleeding minus two.
You got that right. Hard not to jack up the volume every time I hear it. I'm not sure who the female background singer is on that song, but her voice is just haunting and beautiful all the way thru the song.

Wow, to refer to Dire Straits as "classic rock" makes me feel so old.
I saw an old music special on tv a couple of years ago with Mark Knoppfler from Dire Straits playing Bluegrass music with Chet Atkins. It was absolutely amazing watching both of those guys go at it. Both of those guys are amazing musicians.
