Surströmming. Thats is herring thats has been fermented and smells so awful that strong men(me) throw up before they tasted it. Beware. Strangely enough there are people that think it is a delicacy...... Humans are strange!!
Kurben - I have always wanted to try it. Well, I say wanted, I want to know if I could handle it. I am guessing that I would pass out before it got anywhere near my mouth though. My father in law thinks it is lovely, which says something about the family I have married in to.

My only experience come from my studentdays at university. Brave young men..... One of us liked it, i and several others puked from the smell before it got close to our mouths. We just managed to get out of the house............

We had a turkey in the freezer once that we had to throw out, I can't remember exactly why, but it seems like the freezer got unplugged accidentally. It had mostly thawed before I discovered the freezer was off, so out it went.

It was the middle of summer. And trash day had been the day before. So that turkey bird could be smelled up and down the street ALL WEEK. :barf::barf::barf:

Learned a valuable lesson, I did. ;-D

Did you have to wear one of these all week?

I don't think that would have even helped. I am sure it wasn't, but seemed like it was the hottest week we had, too. Poultry HAS to be the stinkiest thing ever, when it spoils. Especially in the heat. Although PatInTheHat's story of all the fish was nasty, too. ;-D I was never so glad to have trash day roll around again as I was that week. I think all the neighbors were glad, too. :a11:
