Personally I like the show. Very faithful to the novels ,which I would expect, since it's produced by Guillermo del Toro who wrote the trilogy. I like that the vampires aren't pretty and romantic. Akin to 'Salem's Lot in that respect.

I've just started reading the first book.
I wanted to watch the series, but missed the first ones. Maybe when the next season is starting the station will rebroadcast the first season.

I'm looking forward to the third season too. I love the characters (especially the exterminator) and I love how horribly evil the bad guys are. I'm not a fan of pretty romantic vampires either, except for the vampire in Being Human but he wasn't always such a good guy, he had his evil moments

...the trilogy was excellent...and what snippets I've seen of the show are spot on...usually don't get to watch cuz of my early to bed/haul my ass outta bed even earlier routine to make it to work....

It was excellent, until the last season when it just got silly.
The third season will be starting in a few weeks. I'm currently watching seasons 1 and 2 on Hulu.
