I'm on the fence. I love not having to get the kids up early, fix a hot breakfast, pack lunches, unpack backpacks, school in general - I'm over it. Due to our high humidity, there is no point in make up or fancy hairstyles June, July or August. Flipflops and a sundress are perfectly acceptable work attire. Here's something weird, I'm sweating at my desk, but the church secretary is wearing a sweater and has her space heater on. It's 101 outside. My poor boy has football practice in this every single day.

I do love Fall though. If they could be out of school say from October - December, rather than June - August, that would be perfect.

You're my favorite flavor today Out of Order ! Oh!Oh!Oh!

The older I get, the more I hate like the heat. When I was a teenager in Florida, I used to play basketball on outdoor courts in the middle of the day during the summer and I can't even remember it bothering me much. I would need a space suit to do that now.

I think what I dislike about Florida summer more than anything is how hot it is in the morning. The humidity is at it's highest here in the morning (like 130% ;-D) so when you step out of your house and it's in the 80s with high humidity, it's miserable. Mornings should be cool. On the flip side, the winters are awesome and almost make up for the miserable summers.

I'm with Fljoe- the older I get, the more the heat bothers me. The humidity is sauna time in Fl.
Been in this state over 46 years and must say, the summers are getting hotter- and it's not just that I am getting older.

What gets me most is the daily rainy season downpours. Not like up north- drizzle enjoyable rain. NO, torrents, lighting strikes, power surges, thunder even when there is not rain around. Wind, Hail, more wind. Now this is daily and it gets old. But then again- the winters are magnificent.

As Spidey and fljoe said, summer is our winter time. Many people just stay inside here. plus we have all those tourists here.

SHHHSSSSH!! You two about the winters! People think Florida is warmer in the winter and all, but they don't understand how awesome it really is. Let's keep it on the DL. We have enough Canadians here then as it is...

Sorry, can't Like this thread--I hate being cold. It doesn't feel warm to me until it does hit 75. I'll agree with you on the humidity part, though! :encouragement:

Agree 100%
Cold is actually painful for me. When the thermometer drops below 70, it's long sleeves for me. Unfortunately, in the summer my hubby blasts the A/C so I keep a thick fleecy blanket on the couch at all times.

And probably a third of Maine's summer population.

I enjoy all of the seasons but we start getting snow as early as October and I've seen it as late as early June...so I am not down on summer. Plus, being self-employed, carpenter, you don't work, you eat less. Not that that's a problem. We adapt. We get by. We try. But yeah, last couple days have been brutally hot and humid. Woke the last two mornings with a leg cramp...even though I took a Flexeril tablet or two, drank a bunch of Gatorade, drank cold water before bed...and lo and behold...I forgot to pinch my nose the last two times.

What's that you say? Pinch the nose? Yeah, in a John D McDonald story, one of the last Travis McGee stories, perhaps the very last one...he says something about leg cramps, something about pinching the nose to...make em stop. It actually worked the first time I tried it...pinch hard. I think the idea is to distract the leg cramp...ole leg cramp is down there munching on calf...or inner thigh? Really taking a bite...and he gets distracted or something. It's Chinese I think. How'd we get here?

Been blowing hard today though, cooler temps. Days are getting shorter though still longer than the night. Winter will come on soon enough and I wouldn't mind that, either, so much...if I had some work. Course, there's always this and that and the other thing. Need to pull the trigger is what I need to do. Onward, ever onward.
