The Walking Dead: "COMICS" (Spoilers)

Here's a question: in terms of the latest plotline on the TV show -- with the group in that new place -- does the comic series indicate this will be another Governor-type situation? And when the woman leading the new place said she had to exile some people, will they come back? Was the one of the people she exiled the Governor? I'm sort of a casual watcher of the show, and I've never read the comic.
It is not a new Governor-type situation, the folks of Alexandria are genuinely good people and this becomes a safe zone for rick and his group. However with this comes a new bad guy in the name of Negan who is basically 100% more of a nut job than the Governor ever was, and his group of "saviors".
I do suggest if you ever see one of the comic book compendiums going cheap to pick it up as they are a fun read to kill a few hours.
