Oh good. The Return of the 2D Bad Guys. ;)
Coulda left it a week or two, maybe even until the mid-season break, but hey...

unless I miss my guess, ol' Bob was hiding a little secret from his underwater adventure. Could be the Lecter Wannabes have just ingested a heap of trouble.

I think you're right. Didn't I say Bob had a target on his forehead (not that it took a lot of discernment)? Tyrese needs to be the one who finds out that NOT doing what he should have done has consequences. Failed and LIED (bullcrap he thought he had killed the guy). I'm extremely irritated with that character right now.

Do you all think that Bob was crying prior to being knocked out because he was bitten?

That's what we thought. But, I thought people usually turned quicker now, because everyone is infected.

If he was bit, that could make things rather interesting for the terminus people. A new breed, when you get infected by eating it?

Well, if he lives, it could bear out his belief that good can come from bad: if he was bitten on that leg--nipped, even--but hadn't yet changed (remember how long it took Jim to change in the first season?), perhaps them eating his leg will start them changing faster. Don't quite know how he will get along like that (Hershel had a lot more of a leg left), but maybe!

Here's something LilMan just pointed out: the people who are turning fast are already dead. The only ones we've seen get bitten but not killed are Jim and Andrea, and both of them took a while to change. So maybe it's whether you're bitten and killed or bitten and eventually die (like of the fever) that decides how fast you change. Morgan said it took his wife a while to die and then change, too.

Maybe it takes a bite longer to kill them. Could be as simple as that.

I just started thinking about Shane, too. He wasn't bitten, but he had that injury on his head that could have gotten infected--maybe that's why he changed the way he did? I mean, he was obviously changing before Rick stabbed him. His change was slow because the injury was small and it took a while to get infected (plain old bacteria, I mean. Really, they've been incredibly lucky that none of the numerous injuries most of them have taken have become septic.). Just a thought :)

I've been thinking that the two things are different. There's the 'disease' that everyone has - the Resurrected Brain Stem bug, if you like - and then there's something the zombies carry that "burns you out" - probably just a 'normal' infection, because being bit by something that rotten has to introduce a shedload of foreign bodies direct to the blood stream, right? Way more than you'd get from an ordinary cut or scratch gone bad, to the point that taking antibiotics would be about as useful a defence as swallowing a handful of tic tacs.
For Shane, it'd mean he was slowly dying anyway until his little disagreement in the field. After that, he was just a quick turner. (But yeah, they have been amazingly lucky where serious-but-normal infections have been concerned.)

I wondered why the writers kept Bob around. Obviously it was for “the gross-out scene.” I’m glad the writers chose something different to shock us. Zombie skulls exploding when being smashed with a rifle butt has gotten so passe.

Rick versus Gareth seems to be the theme this season (And how does Gareth always keep his hair looking like he’s a fashion model ready for the runway? Must be taking tips from Julia in UTD) :)

Do any of y'all who read TWD comics watch ZNation? The cannibals in ZNation kept their "food" alive so they wouldn't be eating infected food. They'd remove a limb for dinner and fix the "food" so it would continue living uninfected. I'm curious as to if the ZNation writers borrowed that idea from TWD comics.
Yes, that was a super gross scene in Z Nation. Yet, makes sense to me.
