2 things I saw that seemed to be i was watching a movie. The least of the 2 were I was in Norway above the artic circle where the northern lights are at its apex. For 2 hours the sky just lit up. Greens and yellows and whites filled the sky. Most beautiful to see. The power of nature was humbling.

The one thing I will never forget, something like viewing the apocalypse. I was a teenager. Can t remember the exact year. But we were on a family vacation in CA. One of the biggest fires broke out in history. They were evacuating the area. We were in the car and as far as I could see the hills were on fire. The scene literally took ur breath away. The hill closest to us was on fire, then the hill behind it, then the next all the way to the horizon in the background for miles was on fire. We drove for about an hour on the highway I'm guessing going 55 to 60mph and saw this the whole way. So roughly 60 miles. Something right out of lord of the rings. I will never forget that. Made u realize the power of mother nature.

Anything uve seen in ur lifetime that seemed unreal to you that u felt like u were watching a movie or in a movie. A site, a feeling, a sound. Anything. Please share.

As a child, living in Maryland, we had one of the worst snowstorms ever. Our area, at least, was just shut down. Snow so deep, slick and icy. Power was out.

The lady across the street from us was pregnant, and she went into labor. She had a couple miscarriages previous, so this pregnancy was a pins and needles situation.

An ambulance got to her and I can remember my family watching out the window as we listened to the radio dispatcher telling the ambulance drivers they couldn't take route after route after route to get this woman to the hospital.

We were so scared for them. She lost the baby.

The total eclipse of the sun I just saw a couple weeks ago. I would be surprised if it didn't inspire a lot of films now that it has happened.

Well, it wasn't like it was the first ever one...but you never know. Maybe the Canadians will make some of those cheap and dumb movies you tend to get on SyFy. Even then nothing could be as dumb as the 'mutated neutrinos causing global disaster' BS in 2012. :facepalm_smiley:

An epic teen movie, perhaps. A day in my life back in the summer of 1974 which might best be described as Ferris Bueller's Day Off meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High... and then some. I was working and staying at the largest beef festival in the state that lasted a month and a half. It started out with me going to work for about an hour, finding a large garbage bag filled with beer tickets, and then taking the rest of the day off. It all went a tad insane after that. Some of the components of the day involved the Warlocks motorcycle gang, a psychopath (who months later killed an elderly woman), leaches, one of Charlie Manson’s girls, two dates with different girls (one who’s father was the proprietor of the beef festival and the other the daughter of the local chief of police). Throwing a monster beer party in the main hall with my ill-found gains. Vindictive date number one finding out about date two. Getting caught, in more ways than one, and hauled into the proprietor’s office and getting fired (temporarily), which involved a call to the police. Getting out of trouble through some fast thinking, which got me my job back (and a promotion the next day), and the police called off (with a little help from date number two). And what teen movie wouldn’t be complete without a romp in the hay?

Being in NYC on 9/11. I didn't see the towers fall (other than on TV from our offices) but trying to get home to NJ right across the Hudson River with all those thousands of people in various states of distress and disbelief was like being thrust into the middle of a disaster movie.
It was hard enough seeing it all unfold on television. I can't imagine actually being there amongst the injured and terrified citizens.

Needless to say I'll never forget it. Of course a lot of it is hazy at this point but there are certain images and situations I'll remember every now and again that bring me back to that day. There isn't a day where I take the train into work, walk down a certain street, take an elevator to a high floor, etc. and don't think what if... It's just become a natural part of working in NYC since that day.

There are plenty of examples from the 80s and 90s that provide grounds for begging to differ. :biggrin2:
Still, I suppose they did go a long way to making the Canadian film industry what it is today (or was not so long back), so...
I was riffing on that old joke..."You sir are stupid and ugly!", "I am not ugly!". But yeah I agree there are hits and misses up here, like everywhere I guess.
