Have you been following the recent saga about the Honey Boo Boo show getting cancelled? I've never seen the show, so I don't really care if it's on the air or not, but the emerging story is just killing me.
Honey Boo Boo is a young girl who has her own show as a spin off from Toddlers and Tiaras, TLC's reality show about young girls competing in beauty pageants. (Think Jonbenet.) So, she's the train wreck that goes above and beyond all the other train wrecks in toddler train wreck world. The story is already a mess. They are all over the internet for one goofy thing or another, which is why I know what they're up to with out ever having tuned in to their program.
The news hit yesterday that TLC was canceling the show because Mama June (they all have nicknames) is currently dating a sex offender. Throughout the day, as bits and pieces of the story came out (mind you, there was a school shooting yesterday, and this was still regularly making the front page of news outlets) the story just kept getting worse. I will tell you the bits and pieces as they emerged, so you can see how my guts just want to tie up in a knot and move to another planet...
1. Mama June is dating a sex offender.
2. Mama June is dating a PEDOPHILE.
3. Mama June is dating a pedophile WHO DID 10 YEARS IN PRISON.
4. Mama June is dating a pedophile who did 10 years in prison FOR A SEXUAL ASSAULT ON A GIRL IN MAMA JUNE'S FAMILY.
5. Mama June is dating a pedophile who did 10 years in prison for a sexual assault on a member of Mama June's family, AND THE FAMILY MEMBER IS HER OWN DAUGHTER!!!!
Mama June is actually looking at houses, and buying a car with a man who molested her daughter, *Honey Boo Boo's sister*, and doesn't see a problem with that?
She is denying that she has seen him at all since he went into prison a decade ago, but there are pictures and pictures and pictures.
Normally I do not agree with or condone tabloid practices, but in this case, TMZ et al are my heroes!
And as her past is being scrubbed for clues (again, normally not a fan, but A-OK today) they find that another of Mama June's exes is in prison. Can you guess why? If you guessed sexual assault charges involving minors, you get 10 extra points and first place in line at the toilet to throw up.
I can think of a thousand reasons why she is making these decisions, starting with a big guess at what Mama June's childhood looked like. But, d@mn. We all had sh!tty childhoods. Some of us had colossally sh!tty childhoods. At some point you have to grow the h€ll up and make the world a better place for your own children. Otherwise, why have them? Why give birth to children to put them through the same f**king torture and pain you went through?
