Seriously. The first thing that came to mind was that dreadful film called Encino Man. I think it would be cool if they could, but some of the things these geneticists get up to scare me.

The mind is a terrible thing. ;-D Encino Man should not be wasting space on our human hard drive. There are some things we just can't seem to delete no matter how hard we try. ;-D

The saying just because they can doesn't mean they should comes to mind. It is sad that so many species have gone extinct but I wonder if bringing them back would upset the current ecological balance even more, at least in some cases. And I'm with Emarx about not completely trusting some geneticists to do the right thing.

I do believe watching Encino Man will actually suck brain cells out of your head. If you check it out on You Tube Riot, limit your exposure to it.

Also the fact that i don't think it will be a very happy mammoth. They obviously had to be kept fairly far north and a mammoth eats alot. It walks all the time picking grass and flowers so it would cost a lot just to feed it. No, learn what you can from the find but don't clone it is my advice. You can learn a lot from soft tissues of extinct animals.

Don't listen to these two, Riot87 --Encino Man is silly, goofy, ridiculous fun. Not at all deep, pretty stupid...but it makes me laugh :) It's about two suburban kids (Sean Astin & Pauly Shore) who are trying to dig a pool in one of their back yards. They unearth a caveman (Brendan Fraser) and try to teach him how to be a 'normal' high school kid. Stupid? Yes. But funny!
