Tough one. I'd say Jaws, Phantasm and Dawn of the Dead.
Kudos to suggestions above of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Last House on the Left.
I saw Last House on the Left and The Amityville Horror at the drive-in when I was a wee SwiftPup

I saw 'Sssssss...' at our drive-in back in the day!!!I would love to see an old '70's horror movie called Sssss again in the drive-in theater. It starred Strother Martin. Creeped the crap out of me at 13 years old.
Storyline
David, a college student, is looking for a job. He is hired by Dr. Stoner as a lab assistant for his research and experiments on snakes. David also begins to fall for Stoner's young daughter, Kristina. However, the good doctor has secretly brewed up a serum that can transform any man into a King Cobra snake-and he plans to use it on David. Written by Anonymous

I would also like to see the very first Planet Of The Apes 'Get your hands off of me, you d*mned dirty ape!' and Warriors.
It was a pretty creepy movie back then. If I saw it now I might be laughing throughout but maybe not because Strother Martin is so freaking scary in it.I saw 'Sssssss...' at our drive-in back in the day!!!

Slither! Another good one! I think Dirk was in Slither but, to be sure, I'd have to look it up.That's the one with Dirk Benedict, right? Or was that Slither? I remember that, after Jaws was a monster hit (heh heh) we had a slew of killer animal movies. Most were laughably bad but a few had those nuggets Uncle Stevie tells us about.
