At one point I really wanted him to do a SK adaptation but it seems like he's lost the weird genius I always admired. The last movie of his i enjoyed was Dark Shadows, and even that wasn't really a masterpiece. It makes me sad that he just phones it in these days because his movies were a big part of my life when I was younger; The first three movies I ever saw were Batman, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. I can't ****ing believe he's remaking Dumbo, what the hell is wrong with him? It's not as if he needs the money.

I have to agree with you that Tim has certainly lost some of his mojo that got him where he is today. The Dumbo thing was a weird announcement I have to admit, didnt expect that. Would love to see him get back to his morbidly dark self. Wish he would of done the ghostbusters reboot / sequel. Now image that with a on point Tim Burton.

The last great one of his that comes to mind is "Big Fish." I loved that movie. "Corpse Bride" was pretty good too. I agree completely though. His Wonderland film was horrible and "Dumbo" does not seem promising. Too much CGI lately and too little of the practical effects that made his earlier films great.

I think Sweeney Todd is one of his best movies, and I think his last really great movie was Dark Shadows (a lot of people just didn't get it).

It seems , for me, its a love or hate with Tim Burton movies, its like one, or the other. I loved Nightmare before Christmas, The Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, but was so incredibly disappointed with Dark Shadows. I had waited for it for yearsss because Depp had purchased the role of Barnabus Collins long before that and he owned it. I always loved Tim Burton's unique 'strange' ness but when he got a hold of Dark Shadows , he destroyed that for me, Johnny under a more serious direction of that movie, could have been the most irresistible and breathtaking Barnabas, but it didn't happen under Tim Burton, he made him laughable. Also, I believe he has ditched Helena Bonham Carter for someone younger and hotter from the latest movie, if I'm not mistaken.

Burton has a pattern of hooking up with the female leads in his movies and ditching the previous gal for the new(er) one. I enjoy his off eat sense of humor and his skewered way of looking at things. Never saw Dark Shadows as I can't fathom it being a comedy. It's just like they did with the remake of The Stepford Wives- the studios think 'Hey, this worked great as a horror movie/show but let's turn it into a comedy!' Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I know what you mean, why would they do that ? It doesnt make sense. I refused to watch it for the longest time because I was so angry, I only did eventually, out of curiosity. I thought it was heartbreaking that Jonathon Frid ever visited that set and did a cameo for it, bless his heart.

TNBC is one of my all-time favorites - I used to collect stuff about the movie. That's pretty much why I loved Tim Burton. I actually like Helena Bonham Carter more. They were together for over 12 years and have two children together. Sure hope he didn't trade her in for a younger model and that was the reason for the split. Too much of that jackass-ery in Hollywood the way it is.

I started to watch a dvd set of Dark Shadows the other night but unfortunately it was just a best of compilation, each episode ended on a cliffhanger with no resolution.
That makes no sense. I guess they'll sell anything nowadays. It was a soap opera, if you don't watch it in order of the story unfolding it's pointless.

The problem with watching the show in order is that there are something like 1,200 episodes and some of them are lost. There's a coffin boxset that has a lot of the episodes in order but it's like 400 bucks and I don't trust Amazon in handling that many discs without some of them messing up.

I love the Arrival of Victoria, but you can check in at episode # 210/211 for the arrival of Barnabas, which are the most in demand and searched for, and a story all its own, they are all out there online, and numbered.

There are many at Youtube and other hidden places, but i hope you get to see them, theres nothing like it. Its a storytelling treasure, looking through a window of a bygone time into a story that could never be retold the same again, ever.

I love her more too, and I believe thats what he did! I have to check that but it was the actress portraying the teacher of the peculiar children which i cant recall at the moment but, ugghh the jackassery , she was so unique and obviously very inspirational, has his children, and along came some strange!

Well I own every one of the friggin' 1,225 episodes. The pre-Barnabas episodes were released last, as you might expect. Now let me quickly do one of my many Amazon firestick commercials. You can access every DS episode using the KODI app on the firestick. Easier that popping in a dvd with the lag, and repetitive intro and all that old dog doo doo. Victoria's arrival is fantastic! Uhh, one thing. Notice in some of her scenes it must have been very cold. It was cold. I'm saying it was cold. Do you get it was cold?

Oh, and mal? The mediocre 1979 Star Trek movie was "the motion picture". The over-blown 1990's Bruce Timm Bat-sleeping-pill was "Batman: The Animated Series". And it aired on daytime TV. Was it a soap opera? It couldn't have been a cartoon. I like cartoons. Watch any of the 1,225 episodes of Dark Shadows, and you won't find one that is labeled Dark Shadows: The Soap Opera. It's a soap opera about like Downton Abbey is a bedroom farce. They do not have to be seen in order because the writing and acting was so superior. In the 60's you could get brilliant New York stage actors for cab faire! Oh, and the "lost episode"! It's moldering in some 1960's TV affiliate's leaky basement. The audio exists because some 14 y.o. recorded it on a reel to reel from the television and kept it for 40 years! They filled it out visually with stills. One day it will surface like the dead sea scrolls! Here's the (somewhat) restored episode. And Lara Parker was still hot.

I love the original Dark Shadows and like others here originally watched it as a kid while my mother was watching the ABC lineup of soaps. Watching it today is fun but there are so many episodes where nothing happens that it's worse than watching paint dry. That said, I will always have a soft spot for this show. The Tim Burton version? I feel dirty for actually having payed money to see it.

Bonus points if anyone remembers this game and double bonus points for having owned it and played it. I did!
