Cary Fukunaga's adaptation of It seems to be moving full steam ahead, with producer Seth Grahame-Smith recently quoted as saying 'Our hope is to prep sometime in the next few months and shoot in the summer.' If that's true, then one can only imagine the casting process is already underway. And with that comes the question that's on everyone's mind: Will the giant spider look better? (Sorry, couldn't help it.) Ok, HERE'S the question: Who will play Pennywise?

I don't know the answer to that, but it would hafta be a great character actor like Curry, someone who's not only done film and TV, but also studied theater. Polished. Below is my short list of character actors who could have some fun with the role.

1) Richard Jenkins
2) Timothy Spall
3) Brendan Gleeson

I really like the idea of them actually doing a good job when casting this. How about we leave the idea of casting well known actors as the lead and find the right Pennywise.

Look at game of thrones.

Wonderful casting of newish actors filled out with known faces and great actors.

Who knows we could get a great suprise.

The only actor I can imagine doing this role justice--other than the magnificent Tim Curry--is Stanley Tucci. That man is a true chameleon and I never view him as an actor when watching him perform...he always becomes the character on screen. He would be perfection, just watch him in The Lovely Bones, he appeared to be your everyday next door neighbour but his character/performance was so understated he was terrifying...as Pennywise he would give me nightmares.
