they say you learn something new every day. i didn't see a thread in this vein anywhere, so i thought i'd get one started. so, what did you learn today?

today i learned a bunch of fancy names for certain shapes:

....I learned AGAIN, that one nurse(me)cannot do the work normally done by four-in an expedient amount of time.....but the boss think's that we don't need anyone else on the weekends.....

I can affect change in my world if I speak up about things that I know are not right even if I'm the only person in the room who is brave enough to do so. I can be a feminist without being uncool. I can stand up to sexism in my world even if other people are scared to do so because they think it will make them unpopular. I don't need to accept what I know in my heart is wrong.

A few days ago I (re)learned that the almighty dollar is more important to most people than kindness, integrity, decency...Even those who are supposed to care about you will shun you in a second if it benefits them financially. Makes me terribly sad. I don't prioritize monetary things over people.

I allowed myself to be very hurt over this incident the other day. Trying to find an upside or silver lining, but am struggling. All I can come up with is that maybe it was important to be reminded of this lesson and that I need to guard my heart a little better.
