Freak accidents kill a lot of people but we don't really hear about them. The husband of a woman my husband works with was sitting at a picnic table in a public park on a calm sunny day when a branch fell from a tree and killed him instantly. It was terrible and it just seemed like such an unfair way to die.

Sounds like something my daughter found for me...and, yes I reduced my salt intake and sugar. I also quit smoking and eating meat. I brush my teeth everyday and all the rest of it...
You happy now? (She probably is thinking, 'just getting started'!)

My dad worked in a paper plant long ago. Long, long belt of paper going through a seemingly endless procession of rollers. One day the belt broke, and a worker was killed, crushed by thousands of pounds of wet, unprocessed paper dumping on him. No, not a nice way to go.

Sorry for the poor taste here - gallows humor, if you will - but when I saw the headline of this thread, this is all I could think of:
