Been there?

I know how to say random things in different languages. Depending on where I was.. Mostly.. to buy a ticket... and to ask where the restrooms are.

I can order a beer in Mexico.. I can ask for a ticket in France. I can do a whole paragraph in Polish... I asked a crepe vendor in Paris where the Louvre was. Got the stink eye and pointed to it... How could I have missed it?

I got lost as all hell in London, because I thought the operator said HOT SPOT

I was looking for Hydes Park.... (Hot Spot) really? I wrote it down.

Looking and looking for this hot spot.

Ended up in the Hard Rock in Lodon.. excellent... I hope our John D posts are still available. His Through My Eyes posts are a must read.

Just me?

I haven't had issues outside the country, but I created one for a dear German friend who'd come to visit me when I still lived in D.C.

I knew he had a pilot's license and would probably be jazzed about seeing the Air & Space Museum.
When I brought it up, I was surprised to learn he wasn't so enthused about going.
My roommate encouraged me to ask again, so I did. Again, no interest.

I took him to a great Willem de Kooning exhibit at the East Wing, so because we were already at the Smithsonian, I brought it up one last time.
He asked, "why do you keep talking about this museum? I mean, who is Aaron Space and why is this museum so important?"

-Me and my fast Southern accent, mashing all my words together. We had a good laugh together outside the East Wing, and then went over to Air & Space. He l-o-v-e-d it.
To this day, he tells me to give Aaron Space his best, and I tell him that Aaron says "hello".

Then down the Hudson... City looked really cool, in the evening lights.

I was scared as all hell, but my brother in law had my back with the other weellin thinger.
