I don't remember the last time I saw a store sign that distinguishes toys as boy or girl. Clothing, yes, but not toys.

And someone else said Target was the only big store still doing this in the US. Apparently stores like Walmart already stopped.

I'm sorry, I really must be behind the times. What does gender neutral even mean? When your kid comes up and asks you, "Am I a boy or a girl?" are you supposed to say, "I don't know honey, what do you want to be?"

I feel like such a caveman sometimes...oh, excuse me, I meant caveperson. :facepalm_smiley:

When I went to high school girls could only take Home Ec, they could not take Shop--only boys could--and vice versa. These days either gender can take the class they would like rather than having it limited to one gender or the other so it would now be considered gender neutral. With toys it would be that dolls would not be considered to be only for girls or trucks only for boys. The intent is to stop putting limitations on what people can do simply because of their gender.

Oooooh. Well that makes more sense than how it sounded. Things are becoming so ridiculously PC that I've gotten a wee bit paranoid. :a11:

No, guys, my boy was serious about his housekeeping duties... he had a set that resembled this one (in pic) and 2 battery-powered uprights.
Now he just uses the real vacuum. Screenshot_2015-08-14-15-59-13.jpg

When your child asks you, answer; you are a boy, (or you are a girl, dependent on whether they were born with an innie or an outie).

But do not say, you are a boy so you cannot play with those pink blocks. Or, you are a girl, so must play with only pink blocks.

And if in the future your son comes to you and says "I'm a girl" just accept that as a fact and love her. :)
