What bugs me is the news keeps pointing out that it was a rented Home Depot truck. So what? Just say it was a rented truck, don't act like the Home Depot people deliberately rented it to this *sshat!
Maybe since in the pictures you can still see it's a Home Depot truck they are wanting to show it wasn't a Home Depot employee or something?

Maybe. I hadn't thought of that. It just seems like they put too much emphasis on the words when they say 'Home Depot' to me.
In the NYC news conference, they talked about how agents are systematically checking with truck rental places to train owners and employees how to be alert for suspicious renters. They named several different truck rental companies, and how they are vigilant in checking backgrounds of renters, although it’s impossible to catch every person with bad intentions. I think they are just trying to make viewers aware that Home Depot probably couldn’t have stopped this man.

...same thing went on ad nauseum after the blast that destroyed the building in Oklahoma....the Ryder truck....it had its negative consequence, because I still give them the stink eye when I see one...
