Man, ol Truman wouldn't have been able to rock this social media stuff. I mean, he could be so mean, but he did it in such a loving way, that, if you were in the room with him, you wouldn't care what he said about you. It was just his way. What was it Bogie said to Lauren Bacall after he met Capote? Luckily, a geek like me knows. To wit:

"At first, ya hate him, but after awhile, ya just wanna put him in yer pocket and take him home."

Something like that.

I guess that's what smiley emoticons are sposed to do. Screw that. Words are what I roll with. Truman Capote would NEVER have used an emoticon.

True, I've entered the dark side with the overuse of emojis. I am a big Capote fan. I actually began a grass roots campaign to have his plaque corrected. He and Harper Lee have state issued markers in Monroeville. I was startled to see that one of his books was listed as The Glass Harp instead of The Grass Harp (my favorite of his novels). I called the Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, the college, you name it; to no avail. Truman would roll over in his grave.

Right. But, you know, Truman would roll over for a lot of things.

Oh stop it. I'm just using the same kinda fun humor he would use. That's my point. It's how we roll as human beings.

Anyhoo, I LOVE Capote. But he could be very mean...but he didn't mean it.

Aw crap, that's not writing. That's just posting.

He could be a little troll in his Panama and long scarves, but he didn't leave you wondering what he really thought. Then again, I remember his tongue in cheek humor in public interviews, it was a different time in the world.

 Wait, we have to differentiate between writing and posting here? :what:
We can be found guilty of overusing emojis in the wrong time zone!?
Now what? I'm reading too much into this, right? I don't have any idea what :okay:I'm talking about, as usual. :byebye:

I was doing a riff on Capote's famous line about Kerouac. He said, "that's not writing, that's just typing!" Pretty mean of him. Don't think Jack ever got over it.

How about Phillip Seymour Hoffman playing Truman Capote? I think he's one of the best actors I have ever seen, and I'm so sad that he lost his life to drugs. Let's wake up people, stop f***ing around with drugs and get on with the gifts you have been given!!! It's so sad that he died because of drugs! If I had his gifts I would celebrate them, not waste them.....
