I have the gold edition of TP as well as a dvd of FWWM. I loves me some good David Lynch! I am excited about the reboot. Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire were catapulted up to the top ten movies of all time list for me after I saw them. I didn't see anyone mention his second series 'On The Air'. That was funny as all heck but was killed after several episodes. I even ordered the David Lynch coffee several years back (one to use and the other to keep as a souvenir). The coffee was nothing special but it wasn't bad...I'm no coffeephile, I just like the stuff, no matter where I get it from. Sad that he is not producing more movies but his last musical album was quite interesting.

I am a huge Lynch fan and even 'On The Air' was too crazy for me. There was too much happening all at once to keep it all straight. Have you seen Lynch's 'Hotel Room'? I believe it was an original 3-part movie he did for HBO? Very cool stuff there....

Hi kingricefan, I have not heard of Hotel Room, I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the heads up, mal.

I looked and looked but saw no thread for the Twin Peaks television show. Any Peakers out there? I loved this show! Yes, it was weird (it's David Lynch after all) but it sure changed the way television was viewed. It pushed the envelope on what could be shown on night time television (remember when the killer was revealed?).
The main reason I wanted to start this thread is that they are going to be releasing the entire series on bluray and it will also include the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me and there will also be many, many deleted scenes from the film (but they won't be included into the film, just as 'extras'). Peakers have waited for 20 years for this to happen! This will also be the first time that TP:FWWM will be available on bluray. It very well may be the first time any Lynch film has been made available on bluray (outside of the import versions).
It's going to be great to meet up with all the quirky characters from the show again! I can't wait to see the deleted scenes from the film! I was able to follow the crew around in Washington when they were filming the movie and got to see them film a couple of scenes that never made it into the finished film. There was one with Laura, Leland and Laura's mother in the diningroom and Leland is trying to talk Swedish and they are all laughing, having a good time. Another one was with Big Ed and his girlfriend (the owner of the RR Cafe) in his truck at night, talking and kissing while listening to the radio.
Ahhhh, good times......
Hey, I'm watching for the first time. It has a Tommyknockers feeling to it, I think. Some scenes were eerily similar.

Loved the original. We stopped in Snoqualmie/North Bend on our way to a show at the Gorge back in the day and had lunch in the diner. They do serve a damn fine piece of pie and cup of coffee. ;)

Psych did a brilliant parody/homage to the show. Watch if you get a chance...

DUAL SPIRES
psych_epguide_512.JPG
Shawn and Gus receive a mysterious email asking them to come to a Cinnamon Festival in Dual Spires, a town so small it's written in parenthesis on the map. After meeting many of the colorful residents, including Robert and Michelle Barker who run the local diner and Sheriff Johnson, who questions how they heard about the Festival since they deliberately keep it simple in their town, they make their way to the square where the Festival is being held. But just after eighteen-year-old Randy is crowned Cinnamon King, Jack, a weeping teenager on a bike crashes the festivities and whispers upsetting news to the Sheriff. Robert and Michelle fear the worst has come true - their missing niece Paula has been found dead. Jack leads them all to the body, where Doc Gooden suspects she took her usual night swim and hit her head on a rock. Just then, Shawn receives another mysterious email suggesting it was murder.

Hey Tery, thanks for sharing this. I am a Psych fan, too. I watched since it first aired. The same went for Monk. I do remember this episode but the Twin Peaks reference must have went over my head at the time. Twin Peaks is really creeping me out, lol. I don't know where to start with all of the weird characters. That image of the long haired guy Laura's mother sees at the foot of the bed was impressed on my brain in a flash. Lynch is a mad genius.

He sure is. One had to pay attention to get all of the quirky details. It rewards repeat viewing.

I was a fan of Monk, too. Running that and Psych back-to-back was scheduling genius. Even tying the final episode of Psych to Monk, completing a circle, as it was. :D

I am watching the original on Netflix. I have the season one finale in the queue.
The detective's dream with the little man shaking in the corner was the weirdest thing I've seen in a long while, lol.
Oh, Doc, you're in for some definite weird scenes. That one you mentioned is only the beginning.

That long haired man is Bob. You will see him again. And again. He is a very important part of the series.

Tery- I could take you on a day long tour of most of the Peaks sites. Some of them have gone away (such as the trestle that Ronette walks across after getting away from the killer) but most of them are still there. I could even show you Laura's house, which is up in Everett along with the house they used for Donna's family. If you're brave enough I could take you back into the woods and show you the train car where Laura was killed......

Ha! I'm glad. I kind of picked up on the strangeness when the lady with the log approaches Cooper in the diner. I was just dumbstruck. I think I laughed but was just amazed, like I was dreaming. Love that feeling while watching.

Doc- whatever you do, do NOT look up any of the secrets on line. Don't ruin the surprises for yourself. You've got to just let the show wash over you and encompass you. Immerse yourself into the darkness. You may ask me questions but I won't answer them if I think they will ruin surprises for you. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Log Lady is Catherine Coulson who worked with Lynch since way back when he was filming Eraserhead. She was married to the man who plays Pete Martell in real life for a few years. She passed away a couple of years ago. Lynch told her years ago that she would work with him in a film and there would be some type of a pine log involved but he didn't know how or why. Fast forward 20 or so years and he calls her and says I have a part for you!

That's unreal...his voice is hypnotic, don't you think? I'm sure you've watched many of his interviews. If nothing else he's interesting to watch. You never know what he's going to say.

Then after you finish the series you have to watch Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. It's the film of the last 7 days of Laura Palmer's life and answers a lot of questions that the show itself wasn't able to answer before it got canceled. It also raises a lot of questions. You'll see....

Yes, he's quite the character! He plays Agent Cooper's boss in the show and he's hilarious!
