(Hi guys, this is my first ever posting on a message board so please forgive me if I do it all wrong.)

I’m trying to find out if SK has a favorite typewriter or perhaps a favorite font? I know he used an IBM Selectric and I think a Corona as well. I am planning a SK based tattoo and I really want it to be as authentic as possible. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks so much!!

He uses Mac computers now. He doesn't have a favorite font.

Hmmm - earlier I just asked a simple question about the size of that Wang... OH - never mind! :a24::a11:

The caption for this one was Stephen King with his Wang System 5, Model 3 word processor in 1982

Wow - 35 years ago! Not too many people actually had such an item way back when!

That's one of my favorite fonts. Many of King's Viking hardcovers were in Garamond, weren't they? I'm thinking of The Dark Half, in particular. Incidentally, I'm about finished writing my first short story. I am on page 58 of what will be about eighty handwritten pages, I think. My goal is to have it edited and typed out on my Smith Corona by next week.

Doc, I hope the story is something you'll be sharing. My plan this weekend is to read the SKMB Hallowe'en short story. I used to have one of those circa 1920's cast iron typewriters and I gave it away. I didn't care then, as I am always giving stuff away if friends (or anyone) expresses an interest (I wonder what Freud would say about that? :confused-new:). I have a wee bit of a regret now, but that's the tiny covetous part of me whining away in the background. He's pretty easy to ignore. As far as fonts go, I've experienced my fair share of font decisions in the writing I've done over the years (technical crap where you add bullets and agonize over succinctness and clarity) and have to say I'm either a Garamond guy or a Times New Roman guy, depending on which way the wind is blowing. Have a good weekend!
