I'm quite fine with the idea that the original story is open for interpretation, and that there are many ways to recount a story.
So I guess I was already prepped for the series detouring a little bit from the book.

I've been thoroughly entertained by the first season and am impatient for the second to start.
Love Barbie and actually dig Angie. She's no idjit, unlike her original depiction.

I watched the first season and I still don't know that I care for it that much. I will give season 2 a fair chance though. I won't give up on it just yet.

My dad and I watched season 1. I really liked the pilot, then after that it just went downhill for me, especially the season finale. My dad loves the show, though :)
I said to him I was totally done with the show...BUT I'm thinking if I should give it another chance, and see how it goes (?)

I think that would be fair - give it another chance, especially since the first episode tonight is written by Stephen King AND he also make a cameo appearance.

However, even if you do not like the TV series, at least read the book - I found it quite interesting and I have read it twice now, which is unusual for me (to read books twice, that is)!

I think you're right. I'll give it another try :) Oh! I didn't know SK wrote this episode! How cool! Funny that you mentioned SK's cameo, on his twitter he said look for the hat and the blue umbrella (is that a Mr. Mercedes reference?)

I do plan on reading the book! :) (It must be really good if you read it twice!! :D)

I wish people would have decided to "just...just be quiet" on my post. Unfortunately, people feel no need to restrain their mouths or anything else when it concerns me.

OTOH I don't understand why adult people get so upset by nudity (which I DIDN'T see) that it would make them abandon watching the entire series.
I just hope it wasn't the Dale Barbara character who was nude. If it was then I missed more than I even knew.

Its his right, but I really wish SK was a lot more selective with his material. There has been a lot of garbage tossed out there with his name on it. Worse yet, masses think thats King's work. I had to explain to a number of people last year that the novel was actually good and the show barely resembles it. I dont need a carbon copy. The Shining was much different, yet is a great movie.

You think it is a great movie, but I do not. I can't stomach Jack Nicholson's performance and I really do not like some of the changes Kubrick made. I did not like it when I first saw it in the theater upon its initial release and I still do not like it in 2014, when I recently watched it again to see if my opinion may have changed. It hasn't.

My point is that it is all subjective. To each his own.
