I watched this one because it was generally getting favorable reviews as a kind of modern version of "The Man Who Fell to Earth." It turns out only to share most of the artsy flaws of that film. Scarlett Johansson is the alien. She spends most of her time driving around and staring blankly at the people of Scotland. Occassionally she asks for directions. That's about the most that goes on for the first half of the film. Every once and a while she entices a man to her home where he walks into something like a tar pit. Bizarre stuff. At some point she has moral crisis of some sort and begins to stare at a lot of objects. Stoves, fireplaces, herself in the mirror. Very artsy! Mercifully it eventually comes to an end. I can't say I hated it, but I didn't like it. I do give old Scarlett credit for venturing out (way out) of the mainstream though. There was a lot of buzz about this becoming some type of cult film. But I think only a suicide cult would watch it more than once. LOL.
