I'm a huge newbie! I'm 19 years old and have seen many movies that are based off Stephen King's novels and I never really gave much consideration into reading them until I saw the move Stuck in Love which is written by Josh Boone. In that movie, one of the main character's favorite books is It by Stephen King. That movie made me realize that I should be more interested in what other people read, so I asked a coworker what one of his favorite books were and he responded with, "The Shining." I knew that was fate that I needed to read one of King's books. So that's where I am now, about a fourth of the way through The Green Mile and I am madly in love. I saw bits and pieces of the movie while I was in the same room as my dad as a child but now that I'm older, I feel as if I can understand more. That's why I decided to read this book, to connect with a different group of people and broaden my horizons of reading. I've been trying to convince my roommates to read with me, but they have other things to worry about so I don't have many people with whom I can discuss this book! I hope that I can find people here who will be my guide into the way King writes.

Welcome :) I don't have any irl friends who read SK either so I was thrilled to find this board. I hope you post to The Green Mile threads after you finish reading it. Its always fun to see how different people react to the story :)

Cute dog btw :) You've probably noticed that all the threads aren't about Stephen King. I think there's one around here about pets :)

Welcome @JessicaYve - lots and lots of books ahead of you - if you like a sort of classic "fairy tale" type book, try "The Eyes of the Dragon" - I read it for the first time when I was way older than you (like in the last few years) and I thought it was wonderful.
Actually, come to think of it, I was about your age when the book "Carrie" came out - :rugby::love::O_O::reading: (I read it way back when and that was what got me "hooked" ;)
