So all my posts get hung up for ages waiting for "approval". Is that the standard for newbies, or am I special?

How long will it go on? It's kind of hard to interact in any meaningful way when your posts don't show up when they're posted, but some time later. After everybody had already talked it out, then they post my posts which are no longer relevant? If they post them at all?

I didn't realize my views on the problems of giving a ten year old a cell phone were so controversial.

First of all, when Marsha leaves for the day, we are volunteer moderators. That means, we aren't at the beck and call of this board. Nor are we anyone's personal secretary. We are here when we can be here.

Second, you have to post 100 messages and be here 10 days to be free to roam the cabin. That means, you can post and see your messages in real time. This rule is in place because it greatly reduces people who come here to spam. Which you would be amazed how many people do that. An opening comment and then boom! spam! this way, it is caught and taken care of before anyone sees it. Depending on the circumstance, a person can be outright banned, or, we give warnings. If it continues, gone.

Your views are not controversial. You are new. These are the rules in place that everyone here had to follow.

Hang in there. It's worth it. This is a great group of people.

Perfectly said, and would say the moderators deserve an apology for that opening sally from koshergirl. The moderators do a great job in an unpaid volunteer basis and it is not cool to just snipe at them when you don't yet have the facts..that being said,I hope koshergirl learns from that and continues to post,if she does enjoy the forum.

Yes you are special - this has never happened to anyone else (ever!)

:D:cheerful::monkey:

:m_bigwink:

(Just kidding)

I'll let a moderator explain it to you.

Think maybe it is 10 days or 100 posts before you're unmoderated?

Edit: Dana Jean answered up above - sorry - had not read that yet and just jumped in with both feet.

The SKMB is a lesson in patience: as we join we await moderation. In time we are allowed instant posting ( but all posts for all members are still read/ moderated). We wait for news on SK happenings. We are teased about a new project or possible rumor of a book, and we wait for confirmation. All things come in time.
The SKMB is a MB unlike any other in cyber space. It is family guided by MsMod and the volunteer Mods when she is off hours.
Keep posting, that is how your count will increase. Your posts are important and even if not seen for a period of time, they are read. Your input counts. Just be patient- it will be well worth it.

as the admin of a few fb groups, i certainly can attest to that. also as someone who is inexplicably receiving a lot of facebook requests the last few days from shall we say . . .loose women, which are clearly fake accounts. the internet has spawned some very interesting new norms.

Loose women - that is a good one!

My son had Twitter and when I confiscated his phone as punishment I was shocked at the plastic surgery enhanced bimbos on there and the videos they were posting :shame_pig::no_pig:

I've looked at Pegasus's phone thread, but I can't find a post that starts any controversy. Do you mean one of your posts was not put through in that thread? If so, then be assured that the moderators know what they're doing and are probably saving you a lot of trouble.

This board is very different from others, in that we can disagree and offer up different opinions, but we do so in a respectful and friendly manner. This makes for a pleasant place for both members and moderators. Long-time members here would never sacrifice friendships to assume they're better or simply to make a point. Hope you'll stick around long enough to join in on the fun and enjoy Mr. King's genius and his loyal fans.

oh yeah, twitter doesn't really have censors regarding "adult" activity. oh sure, they ask you if you want to see sensitive material, but what kid will say no?

"Loose women" haha,I had to laugh at that one,I googled it braced myself for the inevitable porn shots, fortunately not too many, most showed ladies from talk shows! What are they trying to say about women that appear on talk shows? ;)

You may want to take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with the User Guide which you can find by clicking on the tab at the top right of the page. The information about moderation is explained there as well.

Also remember that nobody can post in Hot Topics from 4:00 pm on Friday until 8:30 am on Monday. The sub-mods moderate on a volunteer basis and I’m sure Hot Topics adds a lot of additional stress that they don’t need. Ms Mod is another story, and is paid to deal with the HT aggravation... And we want to make Stephen gets his money's worth. :p

Yes I knew that one...I haven't come across any information about holding posts though, I'll check again.

It's also to try to filter out nasty trolls who come to spew bigotry like they do on places like the "US Message Board" and "Sidekicks", for example. Even if colluding with resident members here on those and perhaps here soon.

But that is all "theoretical", A. :)

I see a lot of bigotry so far on this site, I'm sure you don't recognize it. Cuz it's cool when the cool kids do it.

Multiple posts. Pretty much every one I posted, there were three I think.

None were controversial. I posted them and they were still waiting for mod approval hours later.

I get what's going on now I see the troll post about how there might be extra moderating for some people based on how badly they were spanked on another site. Also see that the same troll thinks it's funny to use "A" which is the first initial of my first name, just to assert his or her creepiness.
